Editorial Reviews

Synopsis: Jo Jeeta Hai Sikander is a classic Bollywood Gem, and one of Aamir Khan's (Of Oscar nominated Laagan fame's) early films. Ramlal(Kulbushan Kharbanda) is a middle class man, who owns a small hotel. He has two sons Ratan( Manick Irani) and Sanju(Aamir Khan). Ratan is a cycling champion and he is the apple of Ramlal s eye. Ramlal wants his son to win the annual cycling championship, which is being dominated by Shekar Malhotra(Deepak Tijori). He works hard to realize his dream through Ratan. Sanju on the other hand is a typical irresponsible teenager, who lazes out, roams around with his good for nothing friends and dreams of getting rich quick. Sanju and Ratan both study in Model College, which is more of a middle class one and they have a rivalry with the more upmarket Rajput College, most of whose students come from very rich families. Sanju has a childhood friend Anjali( Ayesha Jhulka) who dotes on him, but he just uses her whenever he needs some help. She loves him secretly, but he dreams of marrying a rich girl. He meets Devika(Pooja Bedi) a girl from Rajput College, who is the most wanted one out there and he lies to her, that he comes from a very rich family and she falls for his lies. When Devika knows the truth, she walks out on him. A scuffle ensues between the Rajput College guys and Sanju, and his brother intervenes in the midst. In the meanwhile, Ramlal finds out that Sanju has used the money given to him for his own personal purposes and is furious with him. When Ramlal goes to Delhi to buy a new bicycle for Ratan, Shekar and his friends take it out on Ratan and in the ensuing fight, Ratan falls off a cliff breaking his leg Sanju and his father are heartbroken by the incident. And this proves to be the turning point of the movie. How Sanju redeems the family pride and realizes his father and brother s dream is what the rest of the movie is all about.

5.0 out of 5 stars Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar is simple superb, March 28, 2011
The movie is really fantastic and it gives the spectators a mental boost to fight for our dreams. It teaches us that even if we are loosing the game of life, we can still succeed, if we have will power in ourselves. The songs are also superb. Udit Narayan has done the magic once again in this film. Amir Khan, as always has given his best in the movie. But Ayesha Julkha has also equaled him in all respects. I really love watching the movie. I have seen it quite a number of times. I love the songs "Pehla Nasha" and "Nahi samjhe hain woh hame". The theme of the story is fantastic. A movie which can be viewed universally by all.
