This is my new EDC flashlight, replacing the Fenix P1D-Q5. The JetBeam RRT-01 is a single lithium cell light equipped with a variable output adjustment ring. The RRT-01's output ranges from a dim glow to a blinding brillance. It is easy to select just the right amount of light for the task. The maximum output is rated at 220 lumens and will run at this level for 1.5 hours on a fresh 3.0V CR-123A lithium cell. This light also accepts the 3.7V RCR-123 (16340) rechargeable lithium ion cell. When using this cell, the maximum output will now be 500 lumens. This is an incredible amount of light from such a small flashlight. The runtime at 500 lumens is specified at 20 minutes for a 750 mAH RCR-123 cell. The battery compartment can also accept the higher capacity 18350 rechargeable cell. Please note that it is not recommended to operate the light at the 500 lumen output for more than a few minutes at a time due to heat buildup. This is true of any small form flashlight with a Cree XM-L LED driven to this output level. A word of caution, DO NOT look into the business end of this flashlight when operating at maximum output. The electronics in the RRT-01 draws a small amount of standby current (50uA) when not in use. This, however is insignificant as it will take about 3 years to drain a CR-123A cell. The cell can be disconnected by unscrewing the battery compartment 1/4 turn.

First the pro's:

1. Incredible light output
2. Variable output adjustment
3. Excellent fit and finish
4. Good runtime using CR-123A cells
5. Accepts 18350 and 16340 rechargeable cells

Now the con's:

1. No strobe function (has SOS, though)
2. I wish it came with a holster. (One is available separately)
3. Expensive (Quality is not cheap)

Conclusion: Highly recommended

Or, at least, one of the three best, depending on your preferences. The main three lights in this class right now are the JETBeam RRT01, the Niteye EYE10, and the Sunwayman V11R. It's also worth mentioning the Zebralight SC52, which is similar in size and brightness but uses a button instead of a control ring.

The RRT01 and EYE10 are almost identical, and are owned by the same parent company. My RRT01 even has Niteye's URL on it. The main differences are that the EYE10 has several detents in its range for reference points, it's more likely to have an orange-peel reflector, it has a slightly brighter LED (U2 vs T6, so 7% brighter), and it has a strobe mode. In contrast, the RRT01 may be more likely to have ultra-low lows, it has grip all the way around its control ring, and it has no detents between off and max to interfere with smooth operation.

The V11R is different in a few ways: It has a forward-clicky switch on the back for morse code signalling or "tactical" operation, it has a clip-on clip instead of a screw-on clip, it has an optional extender tube for AA or 14500 batteries, its control ring moves more smoothly, it's slightly longer, and (IIRC) it has no blinky modes. However, it also requires flipping the light 180 degrees all the time to change between on/off clicks and brightness adjustment if you want one-handed operation. It's awkward to go from an overhand grip to a handshake grip and back.

I chose the RRT01 because I prefer its feature set over the other two, and it has turned out to be one of the nicest lights I've ever used.

I got my RRT01 from FastTech, so some details may differ from the units sold on Amazon.

Very bright light that will fit in your pocket. Excellent construction quality. Gave it a 4 for 2 reasons. 1) It will put out 500 lumens of light for a short period of time so for most occasions you want to keep the light to say 200 lumens to reduce heat and extend the run time; there should be detent of some sort on the ring so you can set it at this level ( by the way it does seem a little strange till you get used to it- the ring is not at the end of the light but a bit further down. 2) minor- slight flaw in the annodizing at on edges; so small I probably should not even mention it; this does seem to happen with other annodized lights also.
- if you want a small pocketable light with excellent quality that you can carry in your pocket this is hard to beat. Just wish they
fix the ring to you know where ~200 lumens is.

I can't really write a review that a flashlight expert would respect. I just don't have that level of knowledge on the various products out there. Regardless, I learned about this light from a flashlight forum as i was looking for a small easy to carry light as I need one for work fequently. This light has been amazing so far. Guys who know about flashlights know the benefits of carrying one of these, but to a newbie, lets just say that this light changes the way you think of flashlights. it has a fully adjustable beam up to 200 lumens with a standard cr123 battery. at full power, you can light up objects at about 100 yards of pitch black. it illuminates cracks and crevices with ease (my main use as i inspect real estate)and is small enough to carry daily without even noticing. While it's expensive, the build appears to be worth it. you'd be surprised how often you need a flashlight but never think of it until you actually carry one.
