Book Description

When a reclusive businessman takes an interest in Haven’s artwork, she knows it’s an answer to prayer. But Jett Cestone is an enigma with a disconcerting connection to the young women in his employ. He’s by far the most unusual man she’s ever met.
Haven is the most interesting woman to ever cross Jett’s path. But she’s too naïve and pure to learn what goes on in his home. Too bad he wants her more than he’s wanted anyone or anything in his life.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic & Refreshing August 11, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I started out reading "Descended" thinking the excerpt would be enough. Not! The story had me hooked from the first page and held on tight to the end. (Spoiler alert) I love Dana Pratola's exciting foray into the world of supernatural without compromising a classic Judeo/Christian worldview. Sure there were a couple technical/formatting errors and the ending was a bit abrupt, but these details did not curb my enthusiasm for a fascinating, well-told story. The romance was scalding and the intrigue... sublime. Main characters manage to captivate, yet maintain believable emotions in fantastical situations. All-in-all, Dana Pratola's clever twist on the superhero/angelic theme was a much-needed, exciting, reviving escape. I'm eagerly awaiting the next installment of what I hope will be a long-winded series!

4.0 out of 5 stars Very Unique! August 20, 2012
By salsee6
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I read the reviews for this book and decided to give it a try and am very glad I did. Although I am in love with Christian fiction this story was a welcome change from the standard Christian fiction and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The characters were fleshed out, believable and the subject matter of the book was something that I am passionate about.

The romance fiction is always the same (beautiful girl, studly handsome guy and they live happily ever after) but I didn't mind this one because you were hoping that everything would be okay. The female lead is very down to earth and spunky and goes toe to toe with him--I love that she isn't wimpy and weak. I hate those types of females. I love the references to God and how He helps the character through her rough periods; the messages here were just enough and flowed seamlessly with the story.

Treat yourself to a very exciting and wonderful experience, I highly recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Heart Racing Otherworldly Story. August 18, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Hi!

I highly recommend "Descended" by Dana Pratola.

The hero, Jett is rather swoon worthy: tall, handsome, mysterious, rescues damsels in distress.

Haven, the heroine is self assured, talented and good at keeping Jett on his toes.

Dana is always great at delivering tension in a story, and this one did not disappoint! Heated tension between Jett and Haven, curiosity at what exactly Jett is, and his past is, the interactions with the other people in the story... all these fuel an interesting page turning story.

Only problem... waiting for Dana Pratola to publish her next book!

4.0 out of 5 stars Overcoming Tabloid Views of Life, Faith, and Love September 26, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
This book reminded me of Tamed by Sarah Witenhafer, especially in that neither of these books is just a thin rehash of the Modern Romantic Fantasy about a reclusive rich guy with a BIG secret. Multilayered characters are a huge plus for me, since I struggle to read fiction in modern settings. Pratola gave me a boost, especially with the amazing Esposito and the astonishing twist he gives to the story.

Pratola keeps up the suspense with a clever mockery of the tabloid mentality we all fall into sometimes. Jett suffers in the press and so does artist Haven when she becomes his grandmother's protege. But Haven has a bit of a tabloid view as looks at the surface of things and making judgments. She lets her emotions make decisions for her brain. She hates abuse but it colors her objectivity and keeps her from appreciating Jett's potential almost to the end of the book.

Jett has a sort of tabloid view of God. He's a genius who devours language-learning, technology development and every kind of knowledge but waits years before studying and trying to absorb the truth about his grandmother's and Haven's faith in God. He's an excellent picture of the modern intellectual who thinks he knows it all but wants to stick to shallow thinking about his Creator.

5.0 out of 5 stars Christian romance with Sizzle! August 9, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I wasn't sure what to expect when I started this book, but I soon learned that Ms. Pratola's story was going to keep me coming back for more. I truly had important things to do, but instead, kept picking up my phone to read "just one more chapter." The romance between Jett and Haven was pretty intense and sparks were flying hot and heavy between them. The side story of Jett's war against white slavery sets the tone a little darker than most romances but was definitely intriguing as he fought physical battles against evil men, mental battles with himself, and a spiritual battle with God. I don't want to give anything away but I wouldn't mind my husband having one or two of his special powers:)

5.0 out of 5 stars Finely Woven Story June 11, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Wow. This is such a beautifully written story. The author crafted each scene and character with care, even the seemingly insignificant ones. I enjoyed this book immensely, so much so that I put off finishing it for several nights so I wouldn't see it end. Can't wait for the next one in the series.

More About the Author

Jesus Christ is my Lord and Savior. He is merciful and gracious and loves me beyond all human reason. He loves you the same way, and I believe if the words I write turn a reader's heart toward Christ, I am fulfilling my destiny. A lofty goal? Sure. That's one of many reasons I need God in my life all day, every day. Another is my family. I've been married to my sweetheart for 27 years and we live in New Jersey with our three spectacular children, all of whom are destined to make wide and colorful splashes on this planet.

God gave me a passion to write Christian Romance. These books don't contain explicit sex scenes, but my characters have real desires, struggles and choices to make. A lot of the time they make the wrong ones. No subject is prohibited but good always triumphs. This is not your mother's Christian fiction.
