Nice design, poor quality,
By The matte plastic exterior scratches easily. Do *not* attach the Jimi to your key ring or keep it in the same pocket or purse with your keys or other metal objects. Within five minutes of attaching it to my key ring and keeping it in my pocket, the Jimi was covered with scratches, all of them shiny and highly visible. After two months of use, the top third of the money clip broke off, leaving a jagged edge. The plastic hinge on the clasp is already white with stress marks, so I expect it to break soon. The design is also flawed: Don't store *fewer* than the recommended maximum number of cards or the cards may fall out when you open the wallet. Don't store *more* than the recommended maximum number of cards or the card holder clip may pop out and again strew your cards on the floor. Both scenarios happened to me before I carefully balanced the precise number and thickness of cards I store in the Jimi. The Jimi is cute and it's quite a conversation piece, but I'm glad I kept my old leather wallet. In a few months I'll be switching back once the Jimi finishes self-destructing.

Too bulky for what it holds,

This product looks pretty snazzy, but it is far too bulky for what it holds. The most I could squeeze into it was 2 credit cards, 1 insurance card, 1 driver's license, 1 key card and 1 20 dollar bill. The 20 dollar bill had to be folded in quarters fit in the Jimmi. To call the Jimmi a wallet is an exaggeration.
There are much thinner products out there that hold more. For example the Junior All-Ett billfold, also sold on Amazon, was half the thickness of the Jimmi even when stuffed with the same number of cards and 15 bills! Also the bills in the All-ETT are unfolded making them easier to access.

I was looking to replace a slim wallet, and the JIMI caught my eye. It's pretty cool looking, and it's functional. You really have to adhere to it's maximum fill limits, tho. However, if you can't get along thru the day with only 3 cards/IDs and a few bills, then you shouldn't be in the market for a slim wallet. It's a great find, and if you take care of it, it will last a while. Remember, it is plastic.

I do like this wallet for carrying my cards, but for cash, I do not think it is the best. I wish I would have known they had a Jimi X, which has an external money clip. Since the internal money clip on the Jimi can only hold three or four folded up bills, it is kind of limiting if you intend to use cash quite a bit. It is really good at holding cards and they will never fall out and the Jimi is also waterproof, which is a plus.
I like it for certain things, like it has a little hole in the top of it for a lanyard or a key ring, so I decided to hook my car and house keys onto the wallet and it works well. Since I am a minimalist by nature, I only carry two keys and two cards on my key ring. Since the Jimi is so light, it does not cause any problems when it is in my ignition. If you are someone who uses mostly debit or credit cards in lieu of cash, which is something I am transitioning to, it is perfect. You can fit five cards inside and three bills in case you need cash. I would recommend it to all those minimalists out there, although I think the Jimi X would be a better fit for me personally. It does not take away from the original idea of the Jimi and it is definitely something worth looking into.

Great for the minimalist,

I love my Jimi! I have the aqua blue one. I have not noticed scratches, but I also don't really care. I'm sure there are some, but they don't show up much on the lighter colors, I suspect. I got the Jimi because I don't always like to take my purse with me. I use one credit card all the time and don't usually carry cash. So, I basically just have my credit card and driver's license in my Jimi. Every once in a while I have one other card or some cash. It doesn't hold much, even though it looks like it holds more. You cannot put more than a couple cards in it, or it will not close. I've had my Jimi for a year and use it pretty much everyday. It is still holding up just fine. No signs of breakage or anything. I throw it in my purse and in my gym bag with my keys and cell phone, and it's fine. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is because I think it could be thinner. There are wallets out there just like that, but typically, your cards are exposed, and I don't like that. I get comments on my Jimi all the time. Everyone thinks it is quite cool. I have to agree. I can put it in my pocket or carry it in my purse or wherever. I will say it took a little getting used to, and I had to get my cards in the right place that works for me. I put my credit card on one side and my DL on the other side. It works for me. I got one for a friend in pink, and she loves hers as well. It may not be for everyone, but if you are a minimalist, you may like it. I wish there was a way to attach a cell phone to it. I never use the keychain hole, by the way. Not really sure why that's there.

I used this product for 2 years and I'm very pleased with it. It's extremely compact and it held my money in numerous places: from clubs to boats and even paragliding trips ;-)

Jimi Wallet I've had a Jimi wallet for about three years and have no complaints. I got it to use while cycling but started using it all the time. It holds at least what they say it does, I've often crammed it with more bills and/or cards and it has held up well. I'm sure that if or when I need to get another wallet, it will be a Jimi.

Neat execution, poor quality,

I've owned two of these wallets, the first I purchased in late 2005, and used for two and a half years until my daughter pulled the top off. The second has lasted almost 4 months, and the "hinge" part is in the process of falling apart.
I don't know if Jimi is using a cheaper plastic, or if the second one I purchased was a lemon. Then there is the possibility that the first was just a really good instance. I like the idea--I am able to carry 6 cards in it with little problem (most are IDs of some kind (gym, DL, etc.) and thinner than credit cards) and it sits nice and flat in my front pocket (I detest sitting on a wallet)--unfortunately the execution is just not there. |
