best sling out there!,
By
This review is from: JJ Cole Premaxx Sling Carrier - New Edition Red Orange (Baby Product)
I've been using this sling since my baby was 2 weeks old. I am short and busty (5'3") and I have no problem using the sling. My husband is 6' and it adjusts perfectly for both of us. This sling is designed to put the baby into the fetal position, my son loves it. I wear it all the time and he falls asleep in it. He's now 4-1/2 months old, in a month I can use it as a hip carrier, but right now, he's still laying down in it. Like everything, it takes awhile for your baby to get used to something new. I live in downtown San Francisco, and it's not very baby friendly. The great part about this is that the baby is so well hidden that it looks like I'm just wearing a messenger bag. I feel alot safer than putting him in a stroller. Plus, you can fit diapers in the bottom zippered pocket, and your cell phone and keys in the top pocket. One piece of advice for wearing this is to put the sling over your shoulder bone, not on the muscle, or it will hurt after wearing it more than a few minutes. I've tried a few other slings out there and this is the best in my opinion. I cant' even count how many people ask me about it when they realize it's a sling. And babystyle sells this for $10 more than amazon :)

It's OK.....,

I was excited to use this sling when my son was a newborn but he hated it the moment I put him in it. I tried to use it repeatedly, but to no avail, so I gave up and figured I'd use it when the baby can hold his head up steadily. Now I use the sling to carry the baby around on my hip since he can hold his head up and his back is much stronger at 5 1/2 mos. I do admit that I'm constantly rearranging him because the sling is just too long, as I agree with the reviewer who says "One Size Does Not Fit All". I'm 5'0" and have adjusted the strap to the very end. It's much easier for my husband to use & he thinks it's great. It is a terrific update to the traditional baby slings, with small pockets for your essentials and smart looking colors, but I just wish that it was made with smaller & petite frames in mind.

Excellent Product!!!,

I love this carrier. I also have a front style carrier, but this one is much easier on my back. My baby seems very comfortable, and I love that you can use it when they are older to carry them on your hip. This baby is my third, so I am always busy around the house and it is nice to keep the baby close while I am doing other things. And, the quality is very high and I know it will last through several kids.

I used this alot in the first few weeks after my son was born...but it is definitely NOT the most comfortable sling. Once he started to weigh more, the strap just dug into my shoulder. I have since purchased another sling that I cannot live without. Check them out on kangarookorner.com They have adjustable fleece slings that are sooooo comfortable for both you and baby!

great product once you practice with it!!,

i am 5'9 and busty but in my ideal weight range...so i have a hard time with a lot of the one size fits all items but this one is great. i have found though that you need to make sure it's on you properly and this takes a little practice. this is what i found works well for me: make sure the P emblem is high on my shoulder (and the strap is flush against back)and the inside of bag is stretched out up toward neck (i put it over my other breast, once baby is in it slips below it), then tighten the inside strap, put baby in (head up on my chest), and tighten outside strap. also i find wearing the sling up higher on me is better (my son's 2 months and big) for my back and him...i tighten the lower half by his feet more than the top. once i found out what worked for me i loved it!! i find him to be very comfortable in it, he is in the fetal position and loves it!! he'll fall right asleep, it allows me to keep him close while doing housework or playing with my 20 month old.
my husband also likes this sling (he's 6'4), it's nice to have a product we can both use. i'd recommend it but also would say practice with it and do so in front of a mirror so you can see how it's fitting.

Not good for newborns,
This review is from: JJ Cole Premaxx Sling Carrier - New Edition Red Orange (Baby Product)
This sling was too deep for my newborn son. I'm a fairly tall mom---5' 7" and my baby was also fairly long - 21 inches at birth and 7lbs 6.8 oz. When I placed my baby in this sling, it completely swallowed him. It was difficult to adjust the sling and uncomfortable to carry the baby hanging so low in the sling's pouch. I think this carrier is probably better for bigger and older children. I found another sling called the Maya wrap that was great for a newborn and for an older child. The Maya wrap is the about the same price as the Premaxx sling carrier, but it is easier to use and much more versatile. Plus, the Maya wrap comes in a variety of colors and patterns. You can find more information about the Maya wrap at www.mayawrap.com. The only reason I gave the Premaxx sling a 2 rating is because I liked the bold orange and red color.

I am 5ft. 4in. with a petite build and the Premaxx works great for me. Actually, I really enjoy it! It makes time with my baby more personable and enjoyable, is comfortable for me and my baby (now 10 months old), and I often get compliments on it.

Life saver,

I love my Premaxx sling. I can't say enough good things about it. For me it was a life saver. I had to move mostly by myself when my son was 4 weeks old. I put my son in the sling as I packed boxes and loaded my car which was quite a distance from my apartment. Insead of having to leave him inside alone he stayed content in the sling by me the entire time. Almost everytime I put him in it he would instantly go to sleep. As he has gotten older we us it with him sitting up on our hips. He loves riding along and it frees up my hands. Especially great for cleaning, cooking and traveling with a baby.

A lifesaver for us, but one strong reservation...,
By Marie Piedras (New York) - See all my reviews

First, I must say that this sling was an absolute LIFESAVER when my (somewhat colicky) son was a newborn. No matter how fretful his mewling, when we swaddled him and placed him in this sling, he would fall asleep. Because he otherwise rarely slept in those early weeks, he spent a good deal of time in it. Three aspects of the design are great: 1. The bottom is padded so you can lay baby on a hard surface and use sling as a changing pad; 2. The sides are high and have drawstrings that allow the sling to be opened up almost flat; 3. It grows with your baby--my tiny baby hated the front-type Bjorn carriers, but loved this and still likes it. One aspect of the design is, to me, dreadful--the shoulder strap! It should be wider and padded. I tried repositioning it every which way and no matter what I did, the strap dug into my shoulder. In the end I just put a thick mitten under the strap on my shoulder. Good use for a mitten that's lost it's mate, but I would rather have a better strap.

My 2 month old baby loves this sling. If he's fussy or I need my hands free, he loves to be in it and usually falls asleep. It is very comfortable to wear and really frees me up to use my hands. I didn't have any of the trouble reported by another reviewer that it didn't fit a smaller person. I'm 5'4" and the product fit great once I tightened down the strap. This is great for shopping, walking or just around the house.
