Product Description

Lens hood is one of the most important accessories for each lens you own. A lens hood provides multiple functions: it shades the lens from stray light, improving your contrast and image quality; in inclement weather, it can assist in keeping moisture or wind-blown debris off the lens; and it protects the front barrel from the inevitable impacts against walls, door frames, and other real-life obstacles Compatible With FUJIFILM FINEPIX X100/ X100s / X100T

The Lens Hood/Adapter Ring are excellent additions to my Fuji X100S.

Would definitely buy this again and can't really see any other reason personally to buy Fuji's unless you've got money to burn.
Joseph Wong
Very nice looking and nicely made product that fits perfectly on the x100s.

This filter adapter and hood are top-quality metal components that are built to a level on-par with this great camera. I would say that the metal is very slightly darker in color, but still looks like it belongs on the camera. It would be foolish to purchase the $99 Fuji filter and hood when this one is available. Please remember to unscrew the camera's lens ring before attempting to attach the filter ring. There are instructions with the kit that explain this, but they're on a tiny slip of paper and might be missed. As most reviewers (of both the OEM kit and this one) point out, you may want to remove the hood if you're using the flash indoors as it may be create a shadow on your subjects, but even Fuji mentions this in their manual and frankly, it's common with any DSLR that uses a hooded lens and the on-camera filter. And true, you can't use your Fuji slip on lens cap with the hood or even without it (it doesn't fit tightly). I am able to put the camera into the leather case and close it without the cap on, so there is that for protection. For $20, you cannot go wrong buying this product.

Purchased this lens hood/adapter ring for my Fuji X100S. It can easily hold it's own against the Fuji branded hood that is 10X the price. I don't even know if there is any difference between the two, truth be told. Let's do a little math. This lens hood is $15. The Fuji branded lens hood is $140. (Fujifilm LH X100 Lens Hood Adapter Quality+Price+Value=Stupid Easy!

Set them side by side, shuffle them around and you'd have a very hard time telling apart. The JJC lens hood is all metal and the color is very close to the chrome on the Fuji X100S. I'm extremely particular and don't mind spending money for quality. Most times, it's actually a better value in the long run, but we're talking a lens hood here. And it's well built and fits perfectly.

The only reason I didn't give it a 5 start rating is because there are apparently some manufacturing inconsistencies. Let me explain. A lens hood on the Fuji X100S will slightly obstruct the lower-right corner when using the optical viewfinder. It doesn't affect the image, it's just slightly annoying. That's why they put the slits in the lens hood, to allow you to see through the lens hood. Thankfully, the optical viewfinder on the Fuji has a wonderful heads-up display, including a frame indicator, so it's not a huge issue. And if you use the LCD screen, it's not an issue at all.

The problem is that the first lens hood I ordered fit perfectly, but the slits in the hood (when fully attached) were not oriented properly. I asked about this in a forum and was told that where the slit lines up on these hoods depends on where the filter thread was started when it was machined.

Fabulous at any price! You do need to remove the ring from the front of the camera lens, and if you use a UV filter - you need to screw that on the front of the adapter - not on the back as the macro lens function would jam against the filter.

So remember:

1: Remove lens ring from camera
2. Fit Adapter ring
3. Fit UV filter - or any 49mm filter to the front of adapter. Or don't. Up to you.
4. Finally fit the bayonet hood

You're all set.

You can pay 5 times more for the official Fuji version, or you can buy this one and be very hard pressed to tell the difference. Very well-made product.

Great accessory lens hood and adapter for the FujiFilm X100T. Very easy to install.

In terms of how I use the lens hood, I put a B+W UV filter on it and put the OEM lens cap back in the original box and manuals. Any dust that accumulates, I just wipe it off with a cotton cloth.

All in all this is a good lens hood that protects the lens and dramatically improves the visual appeal of the camera. Adds to the retro vibe of the camera (most people think it's a film camera) and on a few occasions people thought it was some type of Leica (not my intention but speaks well of the mechanical oriented design of the dials and controls).

Some people complain that the lens hood blocks a portion of the optical viewfinder, this is correct but I find it to be mostly a non-issue. If you are using the optical viewfinder, you are usually doing candid group shots or walk-about scenic shots. For anything requiring a bit more scrutiny of composition or focus checking, I am usually using the electronic viewfinder that shows a through-the-lens view of the composition without any parallax issues.

I give it four stars because the silver finish of the aluminum or metal is slightly blue/green compared to the silver finish of the FujiFilm. It's very subtle but noticeable in most daylight conditions. Photo included with the review to show what I am describing.

A slight criticism, If Amazon allowed for 4 and 1/2 star I would give that.

OK for main purposes; but unfortunate that it can't be reversed to accommodate lens cap. Also obscures much of optical viewfinder.
