This little guy produces clean, clear, low bass.

Rated for up to 250 RMS, it should have no trouble handling my power.

I just had this box put in my truck yesterday and I felt more than obligated to write a review on every website I could find that sold this box. I have a 2012 F150 FX4 SuperCrew. This truck came with everything EXCEPT bass in the speakers. First off everyone knows that JL Audio makes amazing products. The box itself is as small as it gets which makes everyone skeptical on its performance which is expected. When they brought my truck around I heard the bass and was impressed but when I stepped inside to leave... I had to turn the bass down ALL the way because it was so loud. All the reviews, people said they thought they had a pair of 10's or 12's in their truck and I 100% believe them! I have had two 10" kickers in a ported box before and this hits just as hard! It fits under my seat perfectly and you can't even see it! This thing is amazing!

I did not purchase this subwoofer from Amazon, but from an audio shop. When a 10-year old amplifier died, I purchased a new one and found myself in need of replacing the subwoofer - it simply didn't play as well with lower power. I didn't feel like trying to build a ported box and I wasn't interested in adding a dedicated amplifier to the car just for a sub. I want simplicity these days, and more efficiency when it comes to audio. To add to that, I also look for a really balanced sound since I listen to many different music genres. Strong low frequency performance (that you can really feel at high volume), a flat midrange, and detailed but "tame" high frequency response are the order of the day. Well, you can't have it all if you won't pay for it, but you can try.

I ended up auditioning the 10" ported W0, 8"inch ported W1, and 8"ported W3 over a period of about an hour. I was using an Alpine-F30 (class D) amp, which produces around 200 watts bridged into 4 Ohms (rated for 150 - test results show about 200 at 14.4V). Hardly a beast, but certainly enough power for the right driver and box combination. Sub was blending with a 5 1/4 inch Polk Db component set (quite a good sound for the money), and a Kenwood Excelon deck with its DSP features turned off. Only time alignment, and a few EQ tweaks for the components were on. I did have 1-3 db of bass boost on from the Alpine (50 hz). In each audition, I used a 120 hz crossover for the sub, and 80 hz for the components. I am very familiar with my cars acoustics, and my music collection (I actually listened to each sub inside my car, great for me but less objective for you).

I recently purchased a Nissan Juke and opted to outfit my own audio system. My stereo guy suggested JL audio components along with a Pioneer Avic 930 head unit. He specifically suggested this bass module as meeting my need for good bass reinforcement without using much space or having much visual impact. After consulting with him and reading other reviews, we chose this product. I am
powering it with the subwoofer output of a 5 channel JL, D series, digital amplifier, which I believe is about 180 watts RMS.

Simply put, this is a great unit. The enclosure appears very durable and the woofer and surround are made of what appear to
be high quality materials. Obviously an 8 inch unit is not going to shake your neighbors windows, but this little unit
does extremely well and provides tremendous bass reinforcement to a wide variety of music.

Listening to classic rock, the drums come alive when they should. Crank up techno/miami bass, and I can feel it in my teeth.
The bass is always, however, well controlled and musical. It blends very will with the JL 650 series speakers I have.

In summary this unit will sound very good in just about any vehicle, but probably more like fantastic in a small
vehicle like mine. So far, I have no "cons" regarding this unit. Even the price I paid, about $250, I consider reasonable
considering the quality and sound of the unit. I would purchase this unit again without hesitation.

I recently purchased this JL setup because I wasn't satisfied with my shallow 10" Pioneer TS-SW2501S2 mounted in the sealed downfiring enclosure that Pioneer makes for this sub. The shallow Pioneer just couldn't reproduce the lower frequencies without some distortion. This 8" JL does much better than the 10" Pioneer. You'd probably get even better low-end with a real 10" or 12" sub with proper enclosure, but if you are low on space, or just want a simple pre-loaded setup, this thing would be hard to beat. I'm throwing 200 watts RMS at it from a Fosgate P300x1 and it sounds awesome. It will fit under the rear seat of a 2014 Tundra Double Cab, but you need to position it further up below the seat because the rear of the seat bottom has a hard support that will dent the grill when you put down the seat. I think it would be fine under the seat if you remove the grill, but I've left mine on and just position the enclosure so that the seat will go down. The enclosure is not sticking out at all from under the seat either. I'm seriously tempted to upgrade my wiring to 4 guage and throw a second one of these in my rig.

My only suggestion for improvement would be a 2 ohm version or dual voice coil version for more wiring and amp options.
