This is a lot of amp for the money in a package that is dimensionally compact and easy to mount. I have owned Sony, Alpine, Alphasonik, and Kicker amps. It runs much cooler than the two 70x2 Kicker amps that it replaced and plays just as loud. The Kickers tended to go into thermal overload mode when cranked up. This one has never overloaded and turns on and off with no pops or clicks. Sound quality is good. My stepson has one, too, and his has performed flawlessly.

The caveat is that I began having problems with the right front channel cutting out under certain conditions. It was definitely a problem inside the amp. That is when I found that JL Audio does not honor warranties for their products not bought in bricks and mortar dealer stores. Their website does (or used to) state they do not support on-line sales. They were willing to fix the amp...for $120.00, worth the price given the quality of the amp. But, I now have invested in the amp all the money that I would have had I just gone to my local dealer 10 miles away.

I picked this up used for $100 from my local stereo shop. I'm pretty sure the guy who sold it to me must have been an idiot. It sounds AMAZING hooked up to my type r components and type s in the back. So much clearer and better sounding that my old amp (fosgate punch 400/4). The fosgate was louder though. The amp really peaks out at about 3/4 volume on my stereo but still crystal clear. I think with an extra 25 watts per channel it would really make high wattage speakers like type R's sound even better.

This amp has to be the best amp to use for your highs. The signal to noise ratio is extraordinary. Great amp, would recommend this amp to all car audio heads.
