This review is from: JL Audio 12" Dual 4 Ohm W6V2 Series Subwoofer - 12W6V2 (Electronics)
This is an amazing sub that will leave your neighbors, your neighbor's neighbors and anyone within listening distance in traffic wondering where the explosion is. It will simply jump out of it's box and slap people in the head with ground pounding bass. Quality manufactured and built to bring that high quality thump to your trunk, the W6 is a subwoofer is designed to operate perfectly at 500 watts and will simply melt your ears off at 1000 watts! Enjoy!

This is an interesting subwoofer. When I first recieved it, I thought to myself, why are low end frequencies so weak?! At the time the sub was enclosed in a sealed 1.25 cu ft box. I later had to take the sub out of the car after an accident (luckily it wasnt damaged), and had it laying around at home. I later got my hands on a great sub-box modeling software (winISD) and started playing around with settings. Made a custom 6cu ft box with the vented port tuned at 25hz, and man is it different. This sub has become a complete beast. At 30hz I went from from 106db all the way to 120db. 40hz is now 118db compared to 110db. I am convinced JL audio now has one the best subs around. BTW this is being power by a Samson studio amp outputing 600rms (peaks at 650ish) at 2ohms. So if you already have the sub, get a bigger box guys, HUGE diffence. Sorry about the long review, just wanted to share my experience with everyone. If I had to do it all over again, I think I wouldve done the 13w7 instead, sometimes I really wanna crank it up and start dropping pictures off the wall but the sub isnt powerful enough for that :P

All of my friends that have a system have 2 subs in the back. Mine basically rapes theirs power-wise and sound quality-wise with only one of these subs. Do know (if you are new to subwoofers) that getting this professionally installed, a good amp, box, and wires, is gonna run you AT LEAST $800. I was only planning on spending around $500 - $600, but I have no regrets what so ever buying this system. My amp (JL Audio 500.1) puts 340 watts RMS into this sub (4 ohms, 500 watts if it were 2 ohms) and I havn't even got near the max on it. I usually have it only on 2/3 at the most, which is just over 1/2 of the RMS the sub can take. I'm honestly scared for my hearing to put it too much louder. Get this subwoofer it's so inexpensive on Amazon (got it for $298 and on the JL Audio site it's $539.95) for what you're getting!

I've got 1 in the back of my SUV. Sealed enclosure powered by a Phoenix Gold 600x1 amp and a 1 farad Phoenix Gold capacitor. Sounds AWESOME!!! Very tight and controlled from 100hz to waaaay waaaay low. JL Audio makes the best subs. 1 of these is all you need!

I'm a music lover, and i'm always upgrading my sustem in the house and
my car, and I have not seen such a powerful subwoofer like the JL 12w6v. It shakes evrything in your car. I have it conneted to a jl amp 250w, and I tell you what! you don't need more than that for a car. Over all it's super good. Rn. From NYC

These Woofers are awesome. I got 2 of them. They were sold as being New and arrived in mint condition and on time. I've looked all over the web to find these sub at a good price & Amazon beats them all! I'm using a sealed 1.5 cubic ft. per-woofer. Wired the 12w6v2's in series for 8ohm ea. Then each one parallel (@4ohms) to my Kenwood x1200m class D amp. They have massive low-end bass, I'm having a hard time finding a box that can handle there power output w/out vibrating @ high vol.. I got these to replace my Fasgate RFR2215. The JL 12W6V2 are far better sounding. There a tighter and cleaner sound. Not to mention they take up alot less space. I would defiantly purchase these subs again. And reinforce the box before you put the woofer in.

A W6 is a beautiful thing to behold. You just can't find sound on this level in a speaker this size anywhere else. I've got 2 of these in a ported box, each chamber is 1.8 cubic feet of air space. JL recommends 1.5 but I found they're usually on the small side for their enclosure rec specs. They're hooked to a class D 1500 watt mono amp. It's not only incredibly powerful in sound but inside the car you can feel the air blowing around and your hair moving. If you're going for tight, precise bass then I'd suggest just 1 in a 1.25 cub ft sealed box. But, if you want to feel the music in your bones go with a larger ported box. And don't forget a decent amount of Dynamat, at least enough for your trunk lid and sides.

Sounds amazing, just make sure you put it in a ported 1.5-1.8 cubic feet box and it will sound amazing. Most people think I have 2 12 inch subs but its only one small box. I will be getting another 12w6 when i get the extra money. I didnt believe that it would be worth $550 for crutchfield but its worth every penny. It hits all the notes, lows and mid bass freqs with clarity like I never heard before in my prev purchases with subs. I had all type of subs, this is the best. I will never buy another sub unless it is a JL, I am now a believer.

I read reviews and forums, and asked around. I was thinking: no way they can be all that like everyone is saying...
Well they are! I have one in an sealed enclosure, built to JL spec. Cadence Class "D" amp running about 1000 clean watts to it. I have every pot set to lowest! I just touch one and my spleen about falls out. This thing POUNDS! Make the change fly out of my cup holder...need I say more?

This sub hitttssss hard, this is definitely the best sub i have come into contact with. When I first got the sub i had it in a prefab sealed box it was great. Then I saved the money to get a custom ported box and Jesus Christ this thing moves mirrors on 2 cars away and hits harder and louder than my friends two kickers. If i would do it again i would probably go with a W7 just to get more people turning to see where the explosions are coming from.
