Fizz lasts!,

Simple and basic but it works! Helpful tip - - when you remove the bottle cap, it leaves behind a thin plastic ring. In order for the Fizz Keeper to work its best, you need to remove this ring as well as the cap. This allows the Fizz Keeper to screw down tighter and create a complete seal.

Works well until it breaks - and they always break,

I've owned four or five of these, and they work wonderfully for a few weeks or so. Then, inevitably they'll break. They either start leaking (you can hear the air escaping) or they mechanism will stop working, or snap, or stop pumping, or something. I even purchased a different model from the same company with a rubber squeeze-ball on the top, and after three uses it stopped holding air in.
Wonderful concept, but horrible quality.

Careful not to over pump!,

In the package I bought it had 3 units. I thought the first one was defective... I pumped it up after pouring out my soda, not over doing it but not leaving a ton of space for air. When I went to open the soda again after my drink was empty the Fizz-Keeper almost popped off the top by itself it had so much fizz in it. I opened the second fizz keeper and didn't have the same problem til a day or two ago.
Well now I have to under pump it, it seems that the 2 liter will help keep the carbon going by itself not just with the Fizz-Keeper. Even with under pumping it by the next day the air is still pretty tight, if you try to squeeze the 2 liter it will feel like you've never opened it. If you over do the pumping please be careful, it sounds like an extremely loud wine cork almost when it pops and if your hand is not securely on the device I imagine it will shoot up in the air. Bottom line: Does it keep fizz? ABSOLUTELY, my soda will stay fresh over a week with the Fizz-Keeper, just be careful how you pump!

Jokari Fizz-Keeper
I have used my Fizz Keeper on a daily basis for well over 5 years..Yes, over 5 years. I am buying a replacement because I over-pumped it. As a matter of fact, I over pumped it about 2 years ago, craked it along the threads. I super glued it and have used it daily ever since. This time a freind's daughter was showing off, way over pumped and it totally split in two along the threads. The product did not fail, I failed the product. I am going to buy two this time so I don't have to go without it. There is too much waste without it..I would recommend this to everyone.

Useful Idea, poor quality,
This review is from: Jokari Fizz-Keeper (2 liter), 3 units (Kitchen)
The search for the device that saves carbonation goes on yet. This could be the answer but the quality is lacking. The pumps fail too soon, the range is from 12 days to about six months. I would rate this higher but for this important deficiency. A minor anoyance is that when your bottle gets low it takes much more pumping to fill the bottle with suffient air to keep the fizz in solution. If you can overlook these issues, then I would say buy it, as it does work.

Building up the pressure.,

Works great. Helpful tip, when you remove the bottle cap, remove the thin plastic ring. This will allow the Fizz-Keeper to seat better against the top of the bottle for a better seal. Not doing this will allow leakage of pumped in air. Also if the pump becomes hard to pump there maybe some of the liquid that has gotten up into the pump. Simply run and pump warm water through it till it works smoothly.
Pump the Fizz-Keeper till the bottle is firm when you squeeze in you hand. A good guide is to feel an unopen bottle and remember the feel when you pump the bottle up after you pour your drink. I can have good fizz all the way to the bottom of a 2 liter bottle soft drink that has been open for 7 days.

It does what it's supposed to. The problem is the more you drink the more effort it requires to top up the pressure in the bottle so it quickly becomes more trouble than it's worth.

Fizz Keeper Science experiment,

We recently purchased the Fizz Keepers as part of a science fari project. The test was to see if anything could be done to prevent the 2 litre bottles of soda from losing their fizz, taste, carbonation etc....
We knew going in that some sodas lose their flavor and/or fizz rather quickly but the results were varied depending on the brand of soda used. Pepsi products in the 2 litre variety were the worst when it comes to fizz and flavor loss and the fizz keeper did little to change that from happening. It helped initially when you only pour a small amount from the 2 litre and put the fizz keeper on immediately but overall pepsi products do not do well in 2 litre form. Coke products seemed to perform the best with the fizz keeper. They retained their flavor at around 80% all the way down to the last 16 ounces in the 2 litre bottle. Once again this can vary by the actual variety of coke product you are testing. The bottom line is that the fizz keeper works by pumping air back into the 2 litre bottle to prevent the carbonation from escaping from the liquid in the bottle.

We stock up on 2 liter bottles when they go on sale. They are so easy to use and the kids dont mind pumping them up. You can pour only what you need, you get almost 6 cans of pop out of each bottle. No more partial cans of pop sitting around.

Some work, some don't,

I purchased a set of three of these for Christmas, and one of the two I kept quit after a few weeks. The quality control is flaky, but when (while) they work, they are a good way to preserve carbonated drinks. I bought three more, to give them another try. We'll see.
