Great singing, great sound,

This CD shows Josephine's talents at their best, she must of had some kind of live show! I don't know if this is the absolute best collection of her sides, but I find the sound astounding for the age of the recordings (1931-37). Arkadia chansons seems like a sure bet label, based on my samplings.

This was my first Josephine Baker album. It's a good roundup, including songs I've heard before, by her and by other singers, as well as some that were new to me. She's good company in my collection for the likes of Charles Trenet.
