5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent adventures of the Golden Age Green Lantern, January 28, 2012
By
Gareth Simon (London, England) - See all my reviews
This review is from: JSA Presents: Green Lantern (Justice Society of America) (Paperback)
This volume reprints stories from `Green Lantern: Brightest Day, Blackest Night' (2002) and JSA Classified #25, #32, #33 (2007/2008) featuring the Golden Age Green Lantern, firstly in the Golden Age of the 1940s with the 48-page `main feature', and then in the current day with the stories from JSA Classified; #25 `Johnny Mimic, 22 pages; and `Giving Thanks' from #32 & #33 -46 pages. The `Brightest Day, Blackest Night' story involves Nazis having stolen a secret weapon ending up in the swamp where Solomon Grundy is living, along with a back-story of Alan Scott moving to Gotham City and meeting Doiby Dickles for the first time. The second story involves a crime at a S.H.A.D.E. facility, and Alan Scott is called in to retrieve an old villain - Johnny Mimic, who might be able to solve the crime. Johnny discovers that the Dial-H-for-Hero disc is at the centre of the crime, and that S.H.A.D.E. killed the previous owner to get their hands on it. He decides to do something about it... and it doesn't end well. Green Lantern and Father Time, the current director of S.H.A.D.E. have a falling out at the end, which might be foreshadowing later trouble between them. The third story is a Thanksgiving story featuring the JSA and an attempt by Vandal Savage and Solomon Grundy to steal the Green energy of the Starheart which powers Alan Scott's ring, though the `real' is about family and reconciliation.

This is an excellent volume of Green Lantern / JSA adventures.
