This book is SUPERB!,

This review is from: Jsp: The Complete Reference (Paperback)
I'm currently an Internet Software Engineer, using primarily Servlets and EJB technologies, and I was hoping to find a book that could give me a good reason to consider using JSPs. THIS IS THE BOOK. I now completely understand the purpose of JSPs, and where they fit into the Java Architecture. You will too, once you read this book.Phil Hanna has compiled a superbly organized and useful book. He builds on concepts logically, and provides awesome examples to help the info sink in. (I can't over-emphasize the usefulness of the examples in this book!) The examples of using JSP Tag Extensions are particularly wonderful. This is perhaps the most confusing and powerful part of JSPs, and Mr. Hanna makes it SO much easier to understand. If you want to learn JSPs and add them to your arsenal of programming wizardry, look no further! I wish that all of the technical books in my library were written this well.

This book is awesome. Unlike some other books of this series the book by Phil Hanna is really "the COMPLETE reference..". It covers all the aspects of JSP technology. This is practically the only book you need on the subject.

Found it better than most other JSP books. I wish author had covered JSP/XML little bit more but I would still give it a 5 rating.

This is an excellent book on JSP. Covers almost all aspects. The biggest thing I liked about the book is the simplicity of examples to explain the concepts, particularly the case study on Model View Controller. I would give full rating to this book.

I'm usually not a big fan of the osborne series, but once in a while, they get it right. This book is indeed complete. The only reference you will need.

Complete reference to what?,

This book is terrible. The Complete Reference to JSP? If I wanted a book to explain the HTTP protocol, HTML forms and other non JSP topics I would have purchased another book. The examples are simplistic... Too simplistic. If your seriously trying to learn JSP find another more advanced book with real examples. |
