So much potential!! but not over the top., June 21, 2005
This review is from: J'Tar and Daughter of J'Tar (Paperback)
This was a naughty, naughty, book. Oh me goshk!
It has 2 stories and is 243 pages long.
From the back cover:
J'Tar
"Treaty talks bring Amara to Rubiya, a country rumored to sacrifice royal children to wild Jaxtar cats. More rumors abound about a half man, half Jaxtar called J'Tar.
When Amara meets the J'Tar, a man named Curran, he is a warrior trained to protect his brother, Rubiya's ruler. She cannot believe the rumors. But she witnesses his shapeshifting and is horrified. She cannot reconcile the wild Jaxtar with the dangerous man who fascinates her. Bit by bit, Amara and Curran give in to the passionate hunger they feel towards esch other, a passion they cannot control. They will have to face poachers, hidden desires, secret fears and even the threat of death if they want to be together. And Amara will find that to love Curran is to love all that he is, even his Jaxtar half".
Daughter of J'Tar
"When Arkady meets Riana, he knows why he's been given the gift of healing magic. She's a J'tar, a shapeshifter, part human, part Jaxtar. She's also royal niece of the ruler, angry daughter, and bereaved mother of Jaxtat kits who left her when weaned. She's wild with anger, grief and the desire to be free.
Arkady has secrets. He is a Jaxtar in a human body whose destiny is to be the J'Tar's mate. He is full of untapped magic he cannot use. He's formed a mate bond with Riana that she fears will steal her freedom. But he'll do anything to win her love-vanquish her fears, help her find her kits, make her minkless with passion. Riana is a woman worth winning and his secrets will make him the victor."
My thoughts...Well,,,these stories are more of a porn story with a sci-fi twist and beastiality. The imagination of the story is what I liked. The stories were not very well written in my oppinion and I was left wishing that it was, cause they have so much potential. 'Daughter of J'Tar' was harder to get than 'J'Tar' cause Shay Lacy didn't explain Arkady well enough.I was "Huh, what?" most of the way through.
Feel free to check my listimania for some really good paranormal reads!

I just call it Paranormal Porn, December 28, 2005
This review is from: J'Tar and Daughter of J'Tar (Paperback)
I thought the concept of a shapeshifting storyline sounded kind of cool. The concept still is. The book, misses the mark.
It isn't so much a storyline as it is a thinly written set-up for the next explicit sex scene. There isn't a plot to speak of. Character development is less than lukewarm. Truly, the purpose of dialogue in this book is to set up the next porn-trash scene. Themes in both stories include forced sex and threads of beastiality.
