Grade 4-6-- Pandora may only be a mini-pig, but the changes her arrival brings to the Dean household are of hog-sized proportions. For 12-year-old Cory; her younger brother, Robert; and their widowed mother, life becomes a series of comic crises. Pandora is the latest in a long line of animal "behavioral studies" that psychology professor Amanda Dean delights in bringing home to her children. The little pig's disruptive antics provide the episodes which move the plot along, and the result is an amusing and appealing family story. Pig lore abounds as Pandora develops and displays unique talents, from toilet-flushing to providing Pandora's Products, the "Real Thing" in fertilizer. Cory at first rejects the idea of spending her summer vacation as top executive of "Pig Poop, Inc.," but she soon realizes the money-making potential, and even acquires a boyfriend who helps out with her unusual deliveries.
