JVC's 27-inch AV-27D503 offers advanced video features, including a three-line digital comb filter, picture-in-picture scrolling, and hyper surround sound. The AV-27D503 has two-tuner PIP (picture-in-picture), meaning you can view pictures from two different channels simultaneously. With the EZ Surfing function, you can scroll through channels via the PIP window while onscreen text informs you of what is on that channel. The three-line digital comb filter analyzes multiple lines of picture information to minimize edge image artifacts while improving transition detail.

This set has a built-in 181-channel tuner and two 5-watt stereo speakers (for 10 watts total power) that produce hyper surround sound. You can adjust the picture's tint, color, black level, brightness, detail, and color temperature. It offers bass, treble, and balance controls for sound.

It has 3 sets of composite A/V connectors (1 in the front), 1 S-video input, 1 component-video input, 1 RF input, and 1 audio output. In addition to controlling the AV-27D503 set, the included remote can also be programmed to control cable/satellite boxes, VCRs, and DVD players.

DVD's look sharp using component video input, but satellite tv picture suffers (using S-Video input). Solid colors appear with blocky artifacts. Ghosting occurs with some text when on a contrasting background.

But, for the price, the TV offers a good set of inputs and decent sound. Also, the other features like PIP, on/off timers, audio out, etc make this a good buy for the money. But if you're a stickler for a good picture, spend more and get a Sony.

Well, let me start by saying, the TV is awesome! I have a DVD player and a Playstation 1 hooked up to it. The picture is sharp and the colors vibrant! The sound is great too, nice levels. The only thing i wish was that it was perfectly FLAT, but that would jump up the price (...). If your not able to go FLAT, this is a wonderful bargain.

I payed $320 for mine. Mine is the one with 3 Digital Comb filters. It is kind of a dissadvantage not being a flat screen but if you dont have the money for one this tv is an awesome replacement. I had a DVD player with regular cables and component cables hooked up to it. It was great, and I had S-video cables for my xbox. This tv didnt really need any setting up or adjustment outside of the box other than plugging it in. Great deal I definatly recommend it.
