With 800 lines of resolution and a 36-inch, full-square, dark-tinted picture tube, the AV-36D303 stands ready to deliver large, brilliant images from DVD players and other quality home-entertainment gear. Its three-line comb filter enhances resolution by removing blurred edges between colors and reducing dot crawl (tiny, moving dots of color along a sharp color separation in a vertical line). Velocity-scan modulation improves definition at picture edges, sharpening images by slowing the CRT (cathode-ray tube) beam's horizontal scanning during demanding work and speeding it up when scanning easily rendered sections. It can be turned on or off. TheaterPro 6500K Color Temperature adjusts the set's temperature to the ideal color-temperature for viewing movies in a dark room.
Top-of-the-line component-video inputs accept video from compatible DVD players and satellite systems, while S-video and standard RCA composite-video inputs accommodate most other video sources. The set offers three audio/video inputs, one of which is on the front panel to let you hook up a VCR, camcorder, or gaming console. A rear-panel RF input accommodates older VCRs, cable boxes, and antennas. BBE High-Definition Sound improves speech intelligibility and restores the dynamic range of compressed musical passages, and Hyper Surround simulates surround sound from any two speakers. The fastest channel changer in the industry (five channels per second), JVC's Hyper Scan takes you through the multitude of channels in a literal flash.
The Return+ feature lets you return to a channel via the 10-key pad with regular return, or program a "Return Channel" to be returned to after sequentially scanning the channels (feature not available on JVC combination units). Other features include an interactive plug-in menu, Apacon, half-tone onscreen display, black-level expansion, auto shutoff, Channel Guard and V-Chip, closed captioning with text, XDS (Extended Data Service) auto clock set with ID display, and an illuminated universal remote with TV, VCR, and DVD control capability.

Have it your way! Great picture, sound, and price!,

I researched 36" TVs for many hours on the internet and visited many local retail stores to compare picture quality and features. This JVC's sleek, silver-designed model has the most crisp, clear picture when compared side by side to Toshiba, RCA, and Philips. If you want clearer, you'll have to go to the Flat Screen ($$$$). If you are looking for a great, affordable 36" TV - this one is very versitile, allowing for many picture and sound control options to accommodate most anyone's perferences. Picture Settings - Low and High color temperature settings in addition to 5 other types of settings - you can set them very precisely to get the picture that best pleases your eye. Theater Pro - Gives you a clearer, more vibrant picture for watching movies in the dark. For regular cable program viewing I turn this setting OFF and view in STANDARD mode for the results I prefer. BBE Sound - When ON, this is great for special effects in movies and DVDs - the sound is specatular! However, I have found that turning this feature OFF while "channel surfing" helps tone down the distinct volume differences you hear between channels and during commercials. Surround Sound - Same comments as above. We have the option to turn it ON/OFF. If this TV had automatic sound leveling (to ideally tone down those annoyingly LOUD commercials) - I would have given it a 5-star rating. However, I have been able to adjust the bass, treble, BBE, and Surround sound settings to my satisfaction to compensate. I like having so many options to adjust the picture and volume quality just the way I like it. The picture is superior and beats any other make or model in its class. It's a great buy!

i BOUGHT THIS ONE AFTER MY 27" TOOK A DIVE AND I NOW WILL BUY NO OTHER, THE PICTURE IS GREAT AS IS THE SOUND, VERY EASY TO OPERATE AND I HAVE HOOKED UP DVD PLAYER AND VCR, AND HOME THEATER SYSTEM, ALL OF THEM ROUTED THOUGH VIDEO 1 FUNCTION FREEING UP VIDEO'S 2 AND 3, IF YOU THINKING OF BUYING THIS PRODUCT I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT.
