Excellent, small, MiniDV Camcorder.,

This review is from: JVC GRDX300 MiniDV Pocket Camcorder w/ 3" LCD & 1.33M CCD (Electronics)
The GR-DX300U is the ideal size for outdoor enthusiasts. The camera is small, light and fits perfectly in a backpack or pocket. Despite its size, the 3 inch LCD screen is beautiful, but the viewfinder is easier to use in bright, sunny conditions (unfortunately the viewfinder is B/W). Battery life is dismal and you will need to purchase a backup battery (1 hour at best). Digital still pictures are fair and still do not seem to be as clear or vibrant as those taken by an actual digital camera (I rarely use the camera for stills). However, video quality is excellent and footage is easily transferred to your computer through the fire-wire port (using Windows ME and IE-1339 card and cable). With the correct software, DVD editing and creation is a blast! I have also used the JVC GR-DVM76U and am very pleased with JVC's quality and performance.

Before i bought JVC dx300, i did gather all other brand for travel design digital vidoe camera, like canon mv6i, sony, and panasonic, well,,eventaully i pick a right product which is DX300.The strong point for choosing this product are show as following : 1: 3" LCD, this is excellent lcd for me to watch and view picture. 2: 1600*1200 resolution, the quality photo after i print was surprising me, it was really good and clear. but i will suggest only print on 4r size, over that the quality may drop as i guest. 3: multi function for digital still camera function like 4: can still the photo from min DV to memory card, this allow you when you are runing out of memory from SD ram, you still can capture the photo from min dv, however the quality limitation is only 640*480. 5: 540 lina of resolution, this is far enough for general user. 6: mpeg4 function allow you to creaure a small e-mail for send to your friend. 7: reduce wind sound for better sound quality, and stabil image 8: heavy duty, well i did experience drop from table around 3ft, well it still work (might be this is my luck) 9:wide screen and other screen function 10: the shape is small, easy to carry. 11: the quality after i view from TV, all the video i capture is perfect the weakness point is : without build in light when in dark environment and standard battery life is low. In overall, from this price to get the same function and hight quality, i think only JVC dx300 can satisfy us. I would suggest this model is suit for general purpose use in travel , small, easy carry, heavy duty and best quality.

Just purchased the DR-DX300 about a week ago, at first I was disopointed at the grainyness of the auto mode. I found that the auto mode is just about usless for indoor shooting, but the good news is its manual mode has many features that helped out 100% like manual white balance control, exposure time, shuterspeed, Iris lock, and on and on lots of stuff there but if you want a camcorder thats just point and shoot then this is probly not a camcorder for you, thoe its not that hard to figure out manual mode either.the quality of the video is suprisingly clear even on my 53"widescrean. That is also a nice feature, the 16:9 aspect ratio sqeeze and cinama mode(manual)stops the play back from looking all stretched out on a wide screen. There are also wide screen and telephoto lens out that you can simply screw on. I just went with the color filter set. Thoe I do have a 4meagapixel Nikon digital camrea, the 1.3megapixel built in to the GR-DX300 is suprisingly clear for a camcorder, it also has red eye, self timer, and flash intensity, very nice for a camcorder thats about the size of your palm, and the thing has a 3"color monitor!! Sound is excelent . Good luck with the hunting mine is done and I am plesed
