These headphones are the most comfortable headphones with the best sound I have ever owned. And the price can't be beat. My only complaint is that the ear pieces fall off too easily and the replacements from JVC are way too expensive. I ordered some replacements and superglued them on. Based on the other strengths I'm giving these 5 stars anyway.

First off, these in-ear buds sounds great for the price range. I have done head to head tests vs. the sony's, v-moda's, etc. These sounds great, decent lows, clear mids, and very nice highs. They aren't perfectly flat reference buds, obviously, you will need to spend a lot more for that.

However the biggest reason I love these buds is the air cushion design. For those who use in-ear buds for everyday use will have noticed a few things: cable noise from the cable brushing around, and stress on your ear from the weight of the cable. The typical way to address this is to loop the cable behind your neck or over the ear.

What JVC has done here is improve the design so you don't have to do any awkward mitigation to avoid these inherent problems. The cable noise is isolated thanks to the cushion support, as the vibrations don't go into your ear canal. The weight of the cable is also now applied to your ear instead of the ear canal, which is much more comfortable.

This is the reason I use these every day instead of a high quality pair of shure's or etymotics. If you are using them sitting at your desk, no big deal, but if you are walking/running around all the time, these are the best you will find at a very nice price.

Aside from that, I like the little cable slider thing, to prevent tangling when you toss this in your pocket or just throw them on the desk.

The cable is somewhat short. I'm 6'1 and it reaches to my pants pocket without any problem but if I am wearing a jacket I have to move my player to my jacket pocket. I like the cable length, but admit it is short for many purposes.

The rubbers are standard issue. Exact same you'll find with any pair of sony's or other low-cost buds. They do fall off, and you will lose them occasionally.

Side note: the 3.5mm jack is straight and skinny so it DOES fit the old iphone without an adapter.

Please don't pay attention to the 2 other reviews for this product... they only talk about their experiences with shipping. If you went by the stars on their reviews, you'd miss out on a great set of ear buds.

I have bought several pairs of ear buds recently, searching for a comfortable and good quality set.

These are the best I have found so far.

They come with several different sets of do-hickeys (sorry, technical jargon) that fit in your ear, so you can find the right fit. My favorites are the memory foam jobbies that mold to your ear and cut out a lot of exterior sound. To me, they seem to be high-quality. I like them a lot!

The sound seems excellent.

When I bought these I was a little worried about the comfort. I've had some bad experiences with uncomfortable in-ear headphones. The Amazon user reviews said they were comfortable, so I gave them a shot.

I have to agree. These are extremely comfortable, and they do a great job of blocking outside noise. I use them when I'm mowing the lawn, and it does a good job of blocking some of the mower noise, but not so much as to be dangerous. The sound quality is also excellent. It is very balanced, not too much bass, not too much highs. NOTE: Give the headphones a few weeks to get "broken in" before judging the sound quality. Most headphones need to loosen the speaker drivers before you get the best sound, and this takes a while. If you want to speed this up, plug them into a CD player on repeat and have it play through them at a medium volume overnight for a few nights.

These headphones also feature some nice extras that add a little extra value. They have the little slider that you can slide down the wire to keep the ear pieces together, just like iPod headphones, and they also have a very small plug, which is the same size and shape as the original iPod headphones. It includes 4 sizes of earpieces, so you'll find one that fits just right.

One other note, the picture on Amazon makes the earpieces look a little bulky, but they're not. They will fit even in small ears comfortably. The oval-shaped piece of the earpiece is soft plastic with air inside, so it cushions nicely inside your ear, and keeps them in place, even if they get tugged on a little bit.

Overall, I'm very pleased with the quality and value of these headphones, and I highly recommend them. You can tell that JVC went back to the drawing board to answer customer's requests for comfort, and borrowed some of the best design elements from other companies. The result is a high-quality, very comfortable set of headphones that are easy to recommend.

So to give an idea where I'm coming from, I'm a 20 year old college student who was looking for a not too expensive pair of earbuds that sounded decent and would hold in my ears while at the gym or running. I cycle through headphones incredibly fast either through exchanging poor quality pairs, sets breaking or getting lost, etc (hence why I wanted reliable, inexpensive, but still decent quality earbuds). I'm no audiophile, but I do notice the tinny, muffled, overpowering, distorted, and other unpleasant sound effects in my music from poor quality headphones/earbuds.

Finally, in the under $50 bracket that I work within, these earbuds are what I'd been looking for:

STAYS PUT: The air cushions work incredibly well and stayed perfectly in place during my somewhat ridiculous test of just thrashing around to hardcore music. In fact, these are the only buds I've ever tried that didn't even start to slip out during that test.

COMFORTABLE: The air cushion is incredibly comfortable and alleviates some of the discomfort I experienced with other in-ear buds that sort of put a strain on the inside of my ear after wearing for an hour or so.

SOUND: The range of sound is great (10hz-23000hz) and is clear and crisp. The bass isn't anything too special, but is surprisingly powerful for a $22 pair of earbuds with an 8.5mm driver and is definitely adequate for enjoyable listening.
------------
CONCLUSION: For $22, these JVC buds are great and I highly recommend them to anyone just looking for an inexpensive pair of buds that still sound decent. They're particularly well suited for the gym.
