Optimized for home listening, JVC's HA-G55 circumaural headphones are outfitted for both quality and comfort. The soft, comfort-fit headband provides a perfect fit with no need for trial-and-error adjustments, and the large, 50 mm diaphragms use powerful neodymium magnets for powerful sound with rich presence and deep bass reproduction. The HA-G55's closed-ear design blocks out noise from a listening environment to keep you as close to the music as possible. (This design also keeps sound from your headphones from bleeding into the room and disturbing others.) The headphones use a gold-plated minijack (.128-inch) plug and gold-plated .25-inch adapter and come with a generous 11.5-foot cord with a single-ear connection to keep the cord from interfering with your listening.

My good ol' Sony MDR-V6's finally gave up the ghost, so I was in the market for a replacement. After comparing endless reviews and specs, I figured I'd take an educated chance on these. (JVC for headphones? Whodathunkit? I began my search w/the usual suspects- Sennheiser,Koss,Sony etc.).
I strongly recommend these! They have 50mm drivers (which helps in every way) and have a wide frequency response (12-25k Hz. which is beyond the 20-20 audible spectrum- get an extra pair for your dog!). I was tempted to get the HAG77's, but the only difference is that the frequency response is even wider (10-25...get this extra pair if you have space alien friends!).

I'm not a true audiophile, but to my untutored ears these headphones sound pretty decent. Bass is rich, and they're able to handle whatever volume my ears can tolerate without distortion. They're quite comfortable and would probably fit just about everyone, unless maybe you have a particularly small head.

I wouldn't describe the sound from these as spectacular, but you probably won't find anything spectacular in this price range. Overall, I'm pleased with them.

I can't honestly comment on the sound quality of these headphones, because I was so discouraged by the fit, that I haven't even tried listening to anything yet. The 'comfortable, no adjustment needed' headband was such a sloppy fit that the ear cups hung nearly an inch lower than they should have at my ear. With shipping charges and restocking fee to the seller, I can't see that it will be worth my while to return them, but I was sure disappointed. Maybe they'll fit over a hat, but don't assume they'll give you a comfortable fit just because you have an adult head.
