nice design, but don't recomend,
By A Customer
This review is from: JVC HAW300RF 900mhz Wireless Headphones (Electronics)
Rechargeable batteries not replaceable without sending unit back to manufacture. No automatic mute when signal is lost from base unit. Signal cuts off and on from base unit and sound is damaging to ears. Cannot put in regular batteries while Nicads are recharging. Can't use at all while recharging, period. I took mine back for refund. Bought Sony's for replacement.

I bought this product despite so many negative reviews. I have this product with me for about 3 months now. Its been great. If you are looking for simple and normal wireless headphones witout any advanced features or top of the line sound quality, this will be more than sufficient for you. I have a JVC home theater, DVD player and VCR. Having bought all of these from JVC, I decided to go with this headphone and it turned out to be a good one. I did experience little static couple of times, but it was not as scary as others explain. I would definetly recommend it.

Excellent Headphones,
This review is from: JVC HAW300RF 900mhz Wireless Headphones (Electronics)
The stereo pickup is great. Better quality than my previous (RCA) headphones.
Electronic Fan is wrong about sending the set back to the manufacture to change the battery. It is not difficult to change the battery. Changing the battery is similar to other electronic devices that require an exhausted battery change. For the price I recommend purchasing it. RJR

I love it. I wanted to kill the batteries before I recharged it one time and I just let it play non stop. It played for 30 hours. Great reception also, even in metal office building.

Pretty good value,

Had mine for a little over a week. Overall I really like them, the only thing I wish they had done a little better is the "tuning". Occasionally, in order to eliminate static, you have to adjust the tuning knob on the base or on the headset. It would have been nice if this feature was more "automatic". I love the fact that the headset automatically charges when put on the base (no need to buy batteries). I also like the "Voice Call" feature which lets someone talk to the headphones user without having to scream. Its audio output is also flexible (allows for either headphone jack or A/V input.)

Sound Quality very good, easy setup and like the paging function. Only slight negative is that I've worn headsets that are more comfortable, but this one isn't uncomfortable.

They're not bad!,

I've had these headphones for a month now. I decided to buy them regardless of some bad reviews. These are radio signal receiving headphones, they recieve a signal from the base/charging unit. I have it plugged into my computer at work and they're excellent. The sound quality is good for just listening while you're working do not buy these if you're into hearing every detail. Sure, there's some radio static in the background but its nothing that will make you toss them across the room. Definetly worth the price!

Certainly Not Up To JVC STandards,
This review is from: JVC HAW300RF 900mhz Wireless Headphones (Electronics)
These headphones were a terrible disappointment!! I can't help but think that they are defective since they are nothing like previous excellent experiences I've had with JVC products in the past. I still have and use JVC Model HA-W100RF 900 MHz wireless headphones which has been a wonderful product for almost a decade; I'm able to go outdoors and mow the lawn while listening to TV news with the older set. But these new ones, which are supposed to have a range 3 times further than the old ones, are almost impossible to tune and have a range of less than 20 feet; they are also a very loose fit, not snug to the head and ears as are the older ones. I complained to JVC, which resulted in a canned response to the effect that their guarantee only covers replacement parts if I'll send the headphones into a service center. If you can get a set that works as advertised, they're a wonderful product (yes, you SHOULD be able to listen to your TV or stereo, very clearly, while mowing the back of your yard if the set works); but if you have the same experience I did, then shame on JVC for not living up to their own standards. Mine are a piece of junk!!

Very happy with my purchase,
By A Customer

I purchased this for my 72 year old father who has poor hearing and was having difficulty making out what was being said on the tv or when playing his vcr tapes (he has chosen not to wear his hearing aid). He also needed a way not to disturb his wife at night when listening to the tv. After doing considerable research, I decided on wireless, non-infrared, headphones (he will sometimes fall asleep on the bed still listening to the radio or tv, so I needed something that would handle that scenario) and have just hooked up the new headphones tonight. I have always been happy with the JVC brand in the past owning that brand in a handheld camcorder, two tvs and vcr. I was deliberating between the JVC and a $20 more expensive Sony model in the same headphone category. On Walmart's website, they had the same JVC headphone but for $20 more and didn't even have it stocked locally. I therefore decided to go with this JVC model from Amazon. It arrived more quickly than I expected even with the free shipping. The quality of the materials were very much up to expectations. When I tried the headphones first with an older model VCR that did not allow me to plug in both the white and red connectors but only the single end (I'm not an electronics expert obviously), the sound was very low and pretty much drowned out by the static. When I used a vcr that was only 4 years old that had a place for the red and white plugs, the sound was very clear with plenty of volume and no static once I tuned them in. Since we are not using this to listen to music, I won't venture an opinion as to how perfectly it reproduces that quality. For tv/vcr use, it comes across as equivalent to what we could hear before and my general impression is that of a 900 MHz cordless phone, only with headphones instead. I imagine I could also use it to listen to c-span.org audio/video archived recordings on my computer as long as I'm not moving around since it tends to go through static areas, but even then if sufficiently motivated (while cooking dinner for example), I feel they would probably be fine. I found the controls very handy which surprised me given some earlier reviews. I wish there was a more intuitive way of knowing absolutely that the batteries were recharging (since I worry whether the headphones have "seated" correctly) and when they have fully recharged. If there is no audio signal, there is a light that helps as a clue, but since my father is using this with a vcr that is always on (fewer decisions to make), the light stays the same. I consider this only a minor inconvenience. From what I know now and for the application I'm using it for, I am very happy with the purchase.

They work as good as expected.,

They work as good, if not bettern than anticipated. If you plan to use these to monitor recording sessions, I will laugh at you and call you bad names. These headphones are very good for very specific reasons. Example: I work in (basically) a cubicle all day. I do have to get up and walk to other co-workers desks. I can do this fine with this headphones, I can even listen to music when I have to get up and tinkle, in a small office they are great! If your a hi-fi freak, then again, dont buy these or I will laugh at you and call you bad names. Personally, I can barely tell the difference between these and super-expensive hi-fi monitoring headphones, but then, I dont have an "ear" for music. The white noise is the only problem I have with these headphones. They should have detected white noise and output silence instead. They do, occasionally require a little bit of retuning, but the tuning is up buy your right ear, it takes all of half a second to reach up and retune. And when you just cant get it to sound right, its got a fine-tuner on the base unit, which I keep within arm's reach at my desk.In short, know what your getting into, and dont whine when it doesnt work as good as a decent set of hard-wire headphones. Knowledge is the key here (...) |
