4.0 out of 5 stars Very good wireless headphones for the price
I bought these headphones so I could listen to music and podcasts while doing chores around the house and I am very happy with them. The sound quality is very good and the range is excellent. Despite their size, they are quite comfortable. I have worn them for a maximum of 9 hours at a time between charging and the batteries have lasted just fine. Unlike a couple...

Unlike a couple other reviewers, I have not had any difficulty charging them. (You just line up the socket on the headphones with the charging tabs on the base.) There is occasional static when I'm near the edge of their range or near certain appliances (like a running microwave), but this is to be expected with any 900MHz radio device. All in all, these are very good for the price.

I bought these JVC headphones as I have a hearing loss and I always get complaints about the TV being too loud. I bought JVC because I have a JVC sound processor. My impression of the headphones is that they are not a well-designed unit.

I have experienced two main problems with this headphone/transmitter set. First, the positioning of the headset in the charger/transmitter has to be perfect or the headset will not charge. And it is very problematic to position the headphones in the charger in exactly the correct manner. If the headset is not perfectly placed, it will not charge the batteries. Therefore, intelligent user-friendly engineering of the charge/headset combo is really lacking. Secondly, the transmitter on my unit will suddenly go off and transmit loud static! That will wake you up real quick! The sound may stop transmitting for up to a minute or more, and then it will come back on. The problem became more frequent so I finally stopped using the headset entirely. JVC has the WORST customer service center in the entire civilized world, (I have tried to get other JVC items serviced and have had nothing but trouble with them), so I junked the unit. I bought a Sony headset and so far it works great.

My advice is to avoid this JVC product.

This product outperforms with the price tag. If you are picky about perfect sound quality, this is not for you. If you just settle for FM radio quality and everyday use, 5 stars, no question.

They work great. I have no previous experience with headphones of this type but they did what we wanted them to do. We got them for our hard of hearing mother so she could listen to TV without disturbing my day sleeping husband. The only improvement I would make would be an easier way to get the headphones on the charger. Although we can do it, it was clumsy for an elderly person. All in all, they were certainly worth the price!

5.0 out of 5 stars I have two, works great, April 28, 2007
This review is from: JVC HAW600RF 900MHZ Wireless Headphones - Black (Electronics)
I bought this one and liked it well enough that I bought a second one. The first one was for my wife to watch TV with, but I also used it on my CD player. Sound is great. I bought a second one so she could watch TV and I could listen to music at the same time. The transmitters are at opposite ends of the couch. I set the transmitters on different frequencies, and the headphones on different receiver frequencies. Absolutely no interference from each other. Plus, you can change the receiver frequencies and listen with both headphones to the same source.

Anybody who has problems with these wireless headhones needs to read the instructions. They excede the quality and performance as advertised.

5.0 out of 5 stars He loves the headphones, March 9, 2007
This review is from: JVC HAW600RF 900MHZ Wireless Headphones - Black (Electronics)
I am 72 years old and purchased the headphones for my son for his birthday. He likes to take a warm long bath at night before going to bed and he uses his headphones so as not to disturb the rest of the family. He loves them, he says they are so clear that the sound is wonderful. I am so happy that he loves his birthday gift and we would recommend them to others. Mrs. Leona Elam

First unit received was defective, but Amazon promptly sent a replacement. Some reviews say it is hard to get the headphones on the charger unit but, knowing this, it has not been a problem. The charger unit has worked well and I have not had any problems with "dead" batteries.

After some fine-tuning of the frequency controls, the reception is excellent with virtually no interference. The range is good as long as you stay in the general area of the base unit. However, you can't walk down the street and maintain reception.

For me, the headphones fit well on the head and around the ears, allowing me to wear them comfortably for hours. There is a handy volume control on the headphone unit along with a quick "auto-scan" button to adjust the frequency if needed.

Would definitely buy this quality headphone again at the great price offered. As usual, I received the order quickly.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Headphones!!!!, January 19, 2007
This review is from: JVC HAW600RF 900MHZ Wireless Headphones - Black (Electronics)
I had a really cheap set of wireless headphones but the headphones broke. So I started to look for another set. I had three requirements when I went looking. 1-They had to be reasonably priced. 2-They had to stand up to everyday usage. 3-I wanted the headset to be rechargeable. I believe that this set fills all three requirements better then I expected.

There was only one problem with the set when I opened the package. There were no instructions in the package and nothing on JVC's web site. I didn't know were to install to two ni-cad batteries. After looking at the headset for about 10 minutes, I guessed that one of the ear pieces came off and I would then find the removable panel to install the batteries. I made a guess and took the wrong earpiece off. It's the right side, the same one with the on/off switch. JVC does get an A+ for the design of the headphones. Both earpieces come off so that they can be replaced.

5.0 out of 5 stars JVC Wireless RF Stereo Headphones, September 25, 2009

This review is from: JVC HAW600RF 900MHZ Wireless Headphones - Black (Electronics)
I bought these headphones for a good friend on his birthday. He likes to listen to classical music late at night, which disturbs his partner. Since she goes to bed earlier than he, he wasn't able to listen to his music played as loudly as he likes it.

He absolutely loves them. Their range is phenomenal; he tells me that he can still hear the music when he goes to his mailbox, which is down a very long driveway at the bottom of a hill, or puts his recyclables out on the street. I would estimate this distance at approximately 300 feet.

I'm planning to buy a set for myself. I currently use a Sony infra-red pair to listen to TV late at night when my wife is in bed, and they lose the signal when I walk around the corner into the kitchen. (All IR headphones are line-of sight.) That doesn't happen with radio frequency headphones like the JVC HAW600RF. My cordless telephones are all 2.4Ghz units so I don't expect them to interfere with this product, which works in the 900Mhz range.

I'd recommend this product to anyone who wants to listen without disturbing others, and particularly to those of us who have hearing loss. (I suffer from tinnitus). I don't expect to get the range that my friend does as he lives in a semi-rural area, but it should suffice for use in the house, back yard, and garage.

Easy to assemble, good instructions, but always a hiss in the background even though the transmit station is less than 3 feet from the headphones. All 3 channels have hiss. Not bad enough to return them, but I was suprised they did this after the other reviews I had read. Otherwise, very good sound quality for music.
