Excellent little device, a little awkward when wearing a T-shirt though.,

I've bought a few different headsets, from all in one head phone sets to pendant style. The JVC's sound quality is VERY good, even with the included headphones.
The microphone is in the body of the device so in order to use it as a headset you need to clip it to either a shirt pocket or your collar (not exactly comfortable when wearing a t-shirt). I enjoy the ability to swap headphones (especially for a set with a longer cord). Another nice thing is that if I'm using this to play music from my phone over my car stereo and a call comes in I just clip the receiver to my seat belt and I've got a handsfree set. I'm using this with an HP1200tx and a T-Mobile Wing.

I've been shopping for bluetooth stereo headsets for awhile now and thought it would be a good idea to utilize any stereo earphones instead of settling for the built-in earphones. I thought this JVC HAW700BT bluetooth stereo headset fit that bill. I ordered two hoping to give one away as a gift while the other is for me. When I saw this first hand, I was surprised how small and thin it was. It is not as small as single-earphone bluetooth headsets but it was small enough to clip on to your shirt and be unobtrusive. The problem I found was with the earphones itself. With the short left earphone cord (the right cord is longer), and the stereo jack being straight instead of having a 90 degree bend, the cord often gets in your chin's way - since you cannot clip it too far away. I was able to easily pair this unit with my PS3, Blackberry 8820, and Motorola cell phone. Music sounded decent but not great on my BB. However, when paired to my Motorola, the sound improved dramatically to a quality similar to wired headphones: richer base, treble and mids. This most likely has to do with how BB is more for business and not really meant to compete with consumer cell phones with better MP3 decoding capability. In other words, don't judge the quality of these (or any other) headphones unless you test them using multiple audio sources.
Another major design flaw I noticed is with how the unit plugs into the charging base. The two nearly microscopic metal leads on the base seemed very susceptible. And I was right. I couldn't charge the bluetooth unit no matter what I did when plugging to the base. There was too much play between the unit and base to where it was hard to tell if was connected to the metal leads. I never did get it to charge and ended up having to return these units for a refund. If JVC decides to fix these flaws, I may try the 2nd version due to the good sound quality and concept.

A little pricey but what you get is brand name, compact size, charging dock, and excellent execution. I actually haven't used the headphones, but use my bevy of headphones I have. I use this with the Motorolla DC800 bluetooth transmitter. Once paired, you only need to turn it on in subsequent use. I have a very noisy exercise bike and bought this so I could watch TV without jacking up the volume. Very impressed with the quality of this item.
