The JVC HM-HDS1U combines viewing, editing, and library management of your recordings. It's the world's first 2-in-1 product integrating a 40 gigabyte hard-disk recorder and Super VHS-ET recorder into a single unit. You can record TV programs on the hard disk while watching them or while you're out of the house. It offers a one-year, 32-event timer (total for hard disk and S-VHS/VHS) and VCR Plus+ with "Cable Eye" cable box controller for simple programming.
Watching shows recorded on the hard drive is a dream. You can quickly fast-forward through commercials or view high-quality slow-motion effects. And the video quality is superb since programs are recorded in the MPEG-2 format, which is similar to DVD encoding format. If you recorded something you want to keep, dub it over to video tape. Or you can create an edited tape of all your favorites simply by selecting a few index pictures.
The HM-DS1U is packed with advanced VCR features, including Pro-Cision 19 micron width EP Heads for quality EP recordings and DigiPure Technology, including 4 MB frame memory. Naturally, it's a VHS hi-fi deck with MTS decoder. The unit offers insert editing with a flying erase head for glitch-free edits, and audio dubbing for insertion of your choice of music, dialogue, or sound effects. It comes with a multi-brand TV/DBS compatible remote, making it a perfect fit for satellite dish owners.
