If you're looking at this headphone there's a decent chance you've read some of the huge thread that exists on head-fi.com. Here's a link to it if, not, it's a good read and may help you decide if these are for you or not:

[...]

So here are some things you need to know quickly:

1. These sound best with the sennheiser velour pads that can be worn on the hd-25 headphones.

http://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-069417-69417-Velour-Earpads/dp/B000NFZ92G/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1353815679&sr=8-4&keywords=sennheiser+hd+25+velour

They are a HUGE nuisance to get on, because there are cords on both sides of the headphone, and they are a very tight fit which is good int he long run, but be patient. They increase the midrange and transparency on the headphone, which is good, as these are a somewhat v-shaped headphone with a fun sound signature.

2. These require a bit of burn in to sound their best, I recommend at least 100 hrs with various types of music and white/pink noise.

3. There are also other pads available from ebay, such as the Audio Technica Pleathers, and china imports, I found they change the sound some, but not as much as the velours, but they are more comfortable. See the head fi thread as there's plenty of talk about those.

ACCESSORIES: Doesn't come with much, basically just the headphone no case or anything, but they fold up pretty small and fort he price you can't really complain.

COMFORT: It's okay, the clamping force is a little high, but using the velours helps a lot, not a lot of sound leak on these. They are definitely not uncomfortable. I;d place them as average in comfort.

Some may think these have a bit too much on the bass side but I think it adds to the fullness of the sound. High and mid range are very good along with the deep bass. You won't find a better headphone for the price. Only downside may be the fit for some people. I replaced the earpads with Sennheiser velour earpads which makes these headphones comfortable hours on end.

I got these after hearing great things about them.
Everything I heard was true.
They do have Great bass for and only $40+ (at the time) pair of portables.
Loud with an Ipod or Phone...yes.
Bass heavy...yes.
Pinpoint imaging...no.
Wide soundstage...no.
Comfortable...not for me.
I asked my wife if I have large ears, and she says yes, so this might not be an issue for others?
I saw a review on youtube, and the reviewer looks to have average ears, and he says cups are not that comfortable as well though.

I think the produce a very powerful sound, while the midrange (for me) need eq work to sound good on certain genres.
Luckily my Ipod Classic has a vocal curve that works ok for this, but I prefer not have to use the cheap EQ on a portable.
I didnt find Kenny G and his sax very engaging as the sound was so closed in, the same was true for electronic music.

Rap music and Hip Hop sound fantastic on these and rival and even best the original Beats phones IMO, but cost so much less.
JVC makes phones with more bass than these, but for most bass-heads this will be plenty, esp with a portable or desktop phones amp.

I didnt remove any stars for the closed in sound-stage, as these are an over ear closed portable, and I havent hear many that do better.
I do believe these are durable,,and very portable with their multi-folding style

I had been reading a lot of reviews online about these headphones. I have to say at first I was a bit skeptical but as I kept researching the more I saw a lot of the same comments. These cans are amazing! the bass response is unbelievable but not overwhelming. I have a pair of Bose AE2's and they pale in comparison with the JVC's! I am still wowed by the fact that these are under $50! Don't let the long delivery time discourage you, it is totally worth the wait or if you prefer use expedited service, still under $50 for an amazing pair of headphones!
The build of these are solid too, they feel a little tight on the head at first but after wearing them a bit I've noticed that they're much more comfortable. They also fold up really nicely, however as others have already said, a carrying bag would be nice but that is so minor when you consider the quality of these headphones.
So what are you waiting for? Get yourself a pair of these! You will not be disappointed.

I am quite happy with these headphones. I was looking for something for casual use while sitting at the 'puter. I wear them for a few hours and don't travel with them. I have them paired with a USB sound card - Asus Xonar U3. The sound is detailed. The low end is slightly emphasized but never boomy or flabby. The mids and highs are smooth without excessive brightness. They are comfortable to wear for a few hours but I do have to adjust them after a while. Background noise is diminished but not eliminated. Yes, I have heard better headphones but they cost hundreds more. Yes, I have worn more comfortable headphones. But paying hundreds more will not necessarily get you anything better than these. I prefer the sound of these to my Bose 'phones but I'd wear the Bose 'phone on a plane before I wore the JVCs. I'd recommend these for to anyone that wants a pair of over-the-ear cans for casual use for well under $100. My only complaint: the cable it a bit short and if you have a jack in the back of your desk top you will need to extend it.
