I was long debating within a few different models to choose to upgrade the sound in my car. The main feature I was looking for it was bluetooth, and other brands model did have bluetooth but all of them have seem to lose the cd player and are priced higher.

This is a great unit, the faceplate is pretty stylish, and everybody has been telling me "wow, that's a great stereo" , because It does look pretty good, and the fact that you can modify and change the color the way you want is pretty sweet. You can set a day and a night color to swap it ( I think the stereo does it automatically but I haven't set two colors neither test the feature).

Ok, that's enough of the visual.

Bluetooth: The bluetooth functionality is great, I've been using it with an HTC sensation, pairing was pretty simple, and phone reconnects with the unit every time I get in the car or I turn on the stereo. You can "next, previous" via the buttons on the stereo, you can pause/play, and overall is great for music. if you want to call somebody you press the phone button, and it gets you through a pretty simple menu to get to your dialed calls, received calls or phonebook.

The call quality is pretty good, I've mounted the mic in my steering wheel and this far I haven't had anyone telling me that they don't listen to me.

So far (about a week) I've had no fails of syncing or any problem regarding bluetooth.

Sound: I didn't thought that the audio will change that much, but It does, I can say that this JVC unit sounds better than the sony xplod I had before, more clarity in the mids and better bass response. Also the Eq is very responsive and it let's you tweak in the way you want, making a huge difference.

This deck sounds very good & telephone calls interrupt radio & CD for easy telephone pickup & voice dialing (via Blutooth Evo3d). Unfortunately telephone navigation doesn't interrupt radio or cd music.

My biggest problem with this unit is the lack of station preset buttons. Favorite channels need to be picked by scrolling through a list which distracts from the road. My next problem with this set is the screen is difficult to read which really compounds the nuisance of missing preset buttons.

I mounted the mic at the top of the a-pillar and people report that telephone clarity is very nice.

There are many color combinations available for button color and screen color but unfortunately I couldn't read the screen with most of the color options. I've never had a problem reading screen output in any other car stereo that I've ever seen so I have to say that screen readability is poor. Still I was able to find a color combination that's readable albeit difficult but this setting doesn't match my other dashboard lights.

The menu system isn't very intuitive and the lack of station preset buttons further compounds this problem. After a couple weeks this problem has diminished as I've memorized the quirks.

I gave this unit to my daughter and purchased the Kenwood KDC-555U which has all the same great features as this JVC without the drawbacks and it's $40 less expensive on Amazon. I far prefer the Kenwood.Kenwood KDC-BT555U In-Dash CD/MP3/USB Car Stereo Receiver with Bluetooth

I installed this unit in my daughter's Mint 94 Park Avenue/45K MILES. Pulled out the old radio/CD and installed a Scosche installation kit. Popped off the dash and this unit fit just fine. Ran the USB lines to the glove box for easy access. She "LOVED IT'. So many bells and whistles! It sounded incredible with new speakers, the Bluetooth unit works excellent with her Iphone, the apps work excellent too! Pandora is her favorite. Phone calls come in and are read on the dash while her phone is in her purse, answered with a push of a button and the audio on both ends sounds very good as it's adjustable (mic/speaker). I prefer a thumb-drive plugged into the USB PORT for music. This unit does so much it's best to read a full review off the net. I don't have time except to say it has worked perfect for 5 months in the heat/humidity of FLA!

I've had it for several months now, and I'm pretty pleased with the deck. I'd give it 4.5 stars.

Pros:
Great features such as bluetooth (with audio streaming, calling, and speech recognition on phones that support it), high voltage pre-outs, USB functions for iphone and Android, and good internal amp. The display color can be customized to match your interior lights. The sound is good, and the price is unbeatable.

Cons:
No screen tilt (but honestly, I haven't had any issues viewing the screen in sunlight), basic text display (no spectrum analyzer/music visualizer), limited equalizer options and the menu system lacks simplicity which takes away from its function.

If JVC were to improve the aesthetics of the device, I'd give it a full 5 stars. VERY pleased with this purchase, especially for the price.

I probably only have about 20 hours of use on it, but love it so far. It's a little confusing at first because there are so many options and you need the user manual to navigate to anything, but once you get the hang of it, it's pretty cool. I don't use the blue tooth set mic for hands free calling, but the blue tooth streaming audio and the rest of the stuff it does is awesome. You don't even need the remote control when you use your blue tooth phone. I haven't used the JVC app yet, but really haven't had the need to. I don't use the internal amp because i run all 5/6 channels to the amp. I've used head units with 2.5v output and was impressed with the proper audio set up, but the 4.8v this thing puts out, the sound is just amazing! More pure and full.

Good buy, good price, recommend for you!
