I bought this basically just so I could play music from my iPhone with the Bluetooth. Wanted to have the convenience of going wireless. I have an IPhone 4S. Had some trouble getting them to sync at first but I eventually figured it out. If it doesnt sync automatically and you keep getting the pairing unsuccessful message on your iPhone, wait for your phone and the pairing code to show up on the screen of the JVC unit then don't do anything with your phone and instead press the volume button dial in on the JVC and it should sync. Everything works as advertised and the wireless calls with the microphone is a bonus. Don't have to touch anything on the phone anymore which is a lot easier (and safer) driving. If you just play music through your phone or an ipod in your car like me for 90 bucks you can't go wrong.

With past experience related to car audio and audio systems design, I'm impressed with the value from most all car stereo equipment currently on the market from recognized manufacturers. This JVC unit is a great value and fills a niche for those who don't need a CD Player. As typical with current JVC car audio, their amplifiers are excellent--the best of any head unit that I've used for power, punch and audio quality. Nice job JVC! USB input, iPod control, and all the functions I tested work quite well. The remote control is a nice feature. Styling is good; display is very good (but only one color). You can download software from JVC to manage playlists on your USB drive. The only downside is this unit's performance on AM/FM which is significantly less than the stock unit (Toyota/Panasonic) that it replaced: less stations on both AM and FM could be found. Also, FM audio quality was notably lower than that of the OEM radio/CD player it replaced. For some, so-so radio performance won't be an issue. If that's the case for you, this unit is a great performer and a very good value. If radio is important to you, look elsewhere: Sony has some of the best performing tuners in car audio currently. Because of the radio performance which is also important to me, I'll rate 3 stars for this otherwise 4 or 5 star unit.

Shopped and found this unit for a few dollars more at walmart and in the intrest of not wanting to wait I ran out to look at it and bought it on sight. It is as described, everything works as you would expect, I did not have to set anything up or download or install software, it works with the bluetooth immediately, and the power is good to my speakers. Phone conversations are better than with other car stereo bluetooth, so know that if you get the microphone in a good place it will be better than using your phone alone. I placed mine at the top on my drivers side "A" pillar next to my visor ran the wires behind my trim and dash, have someone help you with this if you are not confident, it is not rocket science but better be safe than sorry I say. FM radio sounds great, Aux input works smooth. I have not used the USB to charge yet. redial and call from recent calls through the deck works great, names of callers displays as I scroll through them using the stereo while my phone is in my pocket. I also use the phone to call or navigate or stream music, super convenient and easy. if you have the means the newer model may be the way to go. FOR THE PRICE YOU CANNOT BEAT THE BLUETOOTH CONVENIENCE AND VALUE OF THIS MAJOR BRAND AFTERMARKET CAR STEREO.

The remote works as it should but I might like it to have a few more functions.

P.S. I downloaded the JVC app on my android smartphone. it works, it is an app, but if you use your phone at all for music then your music app will be more comfortable and as easy to use. I see now that the update to the app has made it have some glitches, I deleted the app off my phone.

I need to state up front I ordered this from Crutchfield. However, if it hadn't been my first time ever trying to install a car stereo I would have ordered through Amazon Prime, and save money. For my first time I wanted the ability to contact a customer service rep, which I did for two minor questions. However, if you're handy or have ever done a car stereo swap before you don't need that, and can actually save money by ordering the stereo and wiring harness through Amazon.

I did this install on a 2000 Nissan Frontier that still had the stock radio (AM/FM cassette) installed.

Install:
Very easy, even for someone like me who never did this before. I will suggest looking up your vehicle instructions at installdr.com, since Crutchfield did not send me detailed instructions specific to my make/model, although the Crutchfield wiring instructions were spot on. Also, do some research, as my Crutchfield install kit came with both a dash kit and wiring harness, but the dash kit was not needed. While the wiring harness makes things easier, although it's not absolutely essential, the dash kit was not necessary at all for my install. In fact, I'm glad I did additional research, as using the OEM parts to mount this radio was easy, and resulted in a good looking install, but the plastic dash mounting kit from Crutchfield would actually have been more complicated, and wouldn't have fit as well.

I recommend crimping the wires, rather than solder. Yes, solder gives you an absolutely sure physical connection, if done right, but unless you've developed some skill at it, it's a pain. Also, do NOT use wire nuts, as they will vibrate loose. I used 16-22 AWG butt splice crimp connectors.
