These headphones are no where near flat, and I knew that going in. The bass is thunderous. Highs are clean as well, and even mids are pretty generous considering how V shaped these are. These are my 3rd pair of japanese import carbon nano tube JVC headphones (other two are ha-s500 and ha-s680)

The ha-s500 are extremely clear and excelled on the mid-high, but almost no bass. The ha-s680 are lacking on the higher end, especially mids, slightly boggy sounding but are absolute sub-bass cannons. The 2000's are like a combination of the two, with even more bass. The biggest difference between these and the other two are that they are over ear, and it shows. Testing the binaural interrogation room off youtube with my X3 as a DAC absolutely blew my mind. You could tell every position that the people were standing or walking pretty much by every step they were taking you could position where they were. I actually had to take the headphones off 4-5 times because I absolutely believed that sound must have been coming from my speakers because it was so real. Will be unbelievable for watching HD movies.

These headphones are made like tanks, they are extremely huge, well built, but very, very heavy. A thick neck is necessary for these! They scream quality all the way down to the satin holding them in the box.

If you want the king of bass and everything dub/trap/electronic then look no further. These headphones live up to their hype and beyond it. My search is finally over.

These are bass cannons. For best results, you need to use them with an equalizer and, preferably, an amp. Thanks to a recommendation on the Head-fi forums, I also replaced the stock earpads with HM5 velour ones. I use mine on a Mac with the "Boom" equalizer app installed to boost approximately the 15-75Hz frequency range. Although their ohm rating is fairly low, I suspect they are heavy power draws (because of their warm/dark signature), so I use them with a Fiio E12 amp. The sub-bass extension on these is remarkable--they literally pressurize your eardrums.

Not surprisingly, they work extremely well for genres such as hip-hop and dubstep. However, with a boost in the 1kHz to 8kHz region (to taste), they perform satisfyingly in pop-music as well. I also use them when watching movies (Netflix/Amazon prime). Try eq'ing them and watching Pacific Rim. You will be blown away. It feels like a 15'' woofer strapped to your head.

About me/my setup: I HEART EDM music. 99% of time, that's the music I listen to. I LOVE punchy bass and I don't settle for less. Sample of tracks I listen to:

1. Animals - Martin Garrix
2. What's up Suckaz - TJR
3. Lean On - Major Lazer
4. Eclipse - Hardwell
5. Outside - Calvin Harris (Hardwell Remix)
6. Kuaga - Pierce Fulton

On SoundCloud: Lookup 2F Friendly Sessions, Ep. 17 (Lots of punchy bass tracks)

I also use a FiiO E17K ALPEN 2 DAC/AMP with following settings: Bass +10, Treble -10, Gain +12db. Volume set to 26. Connected to a Macbook Pro via USB. All music I listen to is 320kbps. I have replaced the ear pads with the Brainwavz Memory Foam Earpads (available on Amazon). I also listen to music on an iPhone 6 Plus using the same setup (I used the Lightning USB adapter to connect the FiiO to the phone and turned off USB charging on the FiiO)

Talking about the product, you better believe all of the rave reviews and hype! These headphones are extremely punchy and they will make your ears and skull vibrate. These do feel like having a sub woofer strapped to your ears. However, they aren't the least bit overwhelming - they have just the right amount of punchiness to enjoy the music and make me want to dance! In comparison, I've tried the much talked about Sony XB1000 headphones and they didn't come close. I also own a pair of Bower Wilkins P7 and Audio Technica ATHM50S. Now, they're gathering dust. To summarize, if you listen to EDM (music similar to the playlist above), and are looking for some punchy, head rattling, yet not overwhelming bass, these headphones are what you're looking for!

Short review, don't ask my to explain in describing the sound, I'm not an expert in describing sound.

4.8 Stars
because, I didn't like the stock pads much, not much cushion I switched to the "HM5 THICK PADS", from mp4nation website The HM5 pads are perfect for me. LINK(they have velor also if you want that):
http://www.mp4nation.net/brainwavz-hm5-thick-memory-foam-earpad-suitable-for-large-over-the-ear-headphones-1pc

The side hard surround parts make a plastic-y sound when the phones move, not a big deal.

I would be gentle when stretching these outwords, like when you put them around/onto your head, just be careful/gentle. These aren't 'throw around headphones.
-
I will provide a special link to a video of how you switch the pads, look for the slit/gap in the headphone pad holder and put your new pads in along that gap. PAUSE at 1:40 to see.
