I was looking for a boombox that could play mp3s and had a good radio. This boombox fit the bill. Mp3s play great, and the radio is nice! There is even a clock as a bonus. I would recomend this boombox to anyone!

I purchased this boombox for my husband for Christmas and have been really impressed with it. The sound quality is excellent; the unit is easy to transport; it plays CDs, MP3s, radio, and tape; and the designers really put a lot of thought into the design of this boombox. All the controls are situated so that they can easily be used from above the unit OR from a level with the unit. It's wonderful to be able to take the boombox outside and put it on the ground and still easily be able to see all the controls and use them. The remote is easy to use as well, however.

The only complaint my husband has is that the display for the boombox glows very brightly. We like to use the boombox to play music in our room at night, and the glow from the screen is so bright as to make it difficult to sleep. There doesn't seem to be a way to turn it down, either. And unfortunately, the sensor for the remote is located right next to the screen, so covering up the screen means you cannot use the remote. But other than that, we love this boombox.

I have been a fan of JVC boomboxes for many years,and have had good luck with them.So when I wanted to get a boombox with MP3 playback,I searched for a JVC.After using this boombox,I must say that I am somewhat disapointed.The sound quality is sub par for a JVC,and the radio reception isn't very good(I needed to switch the FM mode to mono to get acceptable reception).All in All,I wouldn't recommend this product.

I ordered this product from this page on Nov 30th, with the understanding that J&R was the Amazon partner who would fulfill the order. According to my confirmation email the product was in stock and expected to ship by Dec 2nd. A week later I received an email from J&R stating that the item was out of stock, with no ETA (call if this isn't ok). I called the J&R 800 # from the email and they said the product has been out of stock for weeks, long before I placed my order. The rep actually said I should not have trusted what Amazon told me, but instead gone directly to the J&R site.

I canceled the order and found a vendor elsewhere outside of amazon and placed a new order. I then let Amazon know what had transpired. Their email response explained that JR isn't an Amazon partner, but a "Marketplace" seller. I called Amazon to get more clarification, since this isn't how the product came up on the amazon site (email confirmation didn't list it as a marketplace order either). They explained that J&R, Beach Audio, etc aren't "partners" the way that Target, Office Depot, and some others are. At the same time, they aren't quite "Marketplace" sellers either. However, when I asked where this is documented they said they weren't aware of it.

Too bad. I usually really like Amazon. Luckily, I was early enough to recover in time for Christmas. Had I placed the order today instead of the end of November, this likely wouldn't have been the case. If when the product arrives doesn't matter much to you, I would say go ahead and buy it here. Otherwise, I would find somewhere else to purchase it so you don't risk falling in between two vendors with what is obviously not a well thought out business relationship.

I purchased this boombox for my parents. They needed something very basic with a cassette player and a cd player. My mom has thanked me repeatedly and she is quite happy. This is perfect for someone who's not looking for lots of fancy features - just something that plays your music:)
