Internally, the receiver is equipped with a hybrid feedback digital amplifier and a DSP digital equalizer. The amp runs at 700 watts of total power (100 watts x 7 in surround mode, 100 watts x 2 in stereo mode), which should satisfy all but the largest environments. To create an even wider sound field, the receiver offers a virtual surround back function that simulates the effect of a back surround speaker even if you don't own one.

Busy listeners will also appreciate the RX-D201S's AV Compu Link function, which facilitates simple one-touch coordination between your JVC audio and video components. Simply pop a DVD into your JVC DVD player, and the RX-D201S automatically activates the receiver and TV while switching them to the proper modes. People who live in large households will delight in the 3-D Headphone feature, which creates an out-of-the-box surround effect through any pair of ordinary stereo headphones (not included). The receiver even lets you stream audio directly from your computer through its USB-PC link.

Components attach to the unit through its comprehensive series of inputs and outputs, including its two digital audio inputs (one optical and one coaxial), four analog audio inputs, and two audio outputs. The RX-D201S also acts as an audio/video switcher, with two component video inputs and one output, three S-video inputs and three outputs, and three composite inputs and three outputs.

The JVC RXD201S which combines an extensive feature set with advanced sonics in an affordable and stylish package. At 100 watts x 7, it features nearly all available audio codecs, including Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital EX, DTS, DTS-ES, DTS NEO:6, DTS 96/24, and Dolby Pro Logic IIx, plus a USB input for receiving audio signals from PCs. As with all of JVC's new receivers, it uses the company's Hybrid Feedback digital amplifier, which uses a digital feedback loop to generate a precise signal and an analog feedback loop to ensure that the final signal is identical to the original.

Do not buy this reciever! Mine caught on fire after using it just a few times. I called JVC and this is a known problem with them, however their customer service is terrible and it has been an extreme hassle to get the thing fixed.

(see full review at [...]) I bought this receiver with high hopes that it would last 15 years like my previous JVC receiver. After 4 days of normal use, it popped three times, smoked, and was unusable. The store I purchased it from wouldn't take it back holding to the line "it worked when you took it out of the box..." It's been at the repair shop for 2 months and is still waiting on parts from JVC--known for being slow in customer service. The receiver sounded great--just wish it would have worked for at least a week.

This JVC receiver is really a dynamo...The sound quality is excellent..

No matter if your using 2 to 8 speakers..Once you connect everything

it's a breeze to use...It gets pretty warm so you probably want to keep

it pretty well ventilated..It compares well to larger, heavier, pricier, home theater

amps...You also have the ability to adjust each speaker acccording to room placement

& size....Buttons on the amp work in a logical fashion even though

some features need to be accessed from the remote..The remote

takes a lttle getting used to because of all the functions they've

jammed on to it.Overall it is well worth the money!
