The silver RX-6042S provides 5.1-channel surround sound performance at a reasonable price. With 100 watts per channel for all 5 channels, the RX-6042S has the power necessary for digital movie soundtracks. Built-In Dolby Pro Logic II, Dolby Digital, and DTS Surround Sound decoding means you'll be able to enjoy full separated sound, without the need for additional equipment. The JVC exclusive DAP (Digital Acoustics Processor) soundfield with seven multi-channel preset sound fields and nine two-channel presets.
JVC's AV Compu Link provides simple one touch operation between your JVC audio and video components. With AV Compu Link you can pop a pre-recorded VHS tape into the VCR or DVD into the DVD player and it will automatically power up your receiver and your television and then turn them each to the proper inputs. A multi-brand A/V remote control lets you control cable set top boxes, VCRs, TVs, DVDs, and satellite dishes.
A full complement of AV inputs/outputs (including component, S-Video, and three assignable digital inputs) makes it easy to connect all of your digital and analog components. The digital AM/FM tuner allows for up to 15 AM and 30 FM presets so you can quickly find your favorite stations. And for those times when you can't use your surround speakers or just want a little privacy, there's a headphone jack available on the front panel.

Working in an electronic store I had a good chance of always playing with all the gadgets most of the time my attention was towards home theatre products,i just couldn't help but to play around so much with dvdplayers and recievers and both at the same time including speakers.We got to the point were we could tell a diffrence not just in basic design,practical use,durability,looks,options but we got a good ear for sound.What we came to determine is the JVC recievers always had the best sound quality and we always used them in the store becouse of that and also we new the setup menus would be easy.That was 5 years ago and i still test all the new recievers I can but had to buy this one to its truly POWERFUL & CRISP sounding hook it up to a decent dvd player and you'll be good to go!Did I mention its easy to set up? BUY IT
