5.0 out of 5 stars Sound that a College Student Can Afford
An amazing system, not only does it play DVDs with Progressive Scan but it also plays MP3s, VCDs, SVCDs, CDs, CD-Rs, and CD-RWs. Which is what any decent audio system should do. It can pick up radio signals. And the remote is rather easy to use.

The sound is great, hooking it up is a breeze. The player has a nice aesthetic to it as well. And the bass, you would not...

3.0 out of 5 stars Good Home Theather but...
Well, this is my second Home Theather, first one was a Sony.OK first of all is a nice and very good looking equipment, speakers come with lot of wire. Now let explain my "but" word in review tittle. This JCV comes with "Stock" Sound (average and good) and I use the word Stock because amazing or not, JVC decide to avoid any control of bass and treble. I...

I am still awestruck by the beautiful sound such a system could put out. Sure, it's no where near the best, but for the price it's top of the line.

This JCV comes with "Stock" Sound (average and good) and I use the word Stock because amazing or not, JVC decide to avoid any control of bass and treble. I dont know why, but I dont care any excuses, this is very important for me, obviously each CD, MP3 or even DVD comes with diferent levels of bass and treble and the only control that you have with this Home theater is subw level and delay of speakers... Good equipment overall but...!

3.0 out of 5 stars Fan failed, December 27, 2003

Liked the sound and picture quality until the cooling fan failed after about a year. Now DVDs and some CDs freeze up after it gets too hot unless I keep a portable fan blowing on it during operation. Purchased it at Media Play which has since gone out of business. Having a []time finding a replacement fan. Also wish I would have invested a little more and purchased one with a multiple CD changer.

3.0 out of 5 stars Aux audio is not capable of Dolbly Digital, June 7, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: JVC TH-A30 Progressive-Scan DVD Home Theater System (Electronics)
Not a bad system, but beware if you are looking to process Dolby 5.1 from a satellite system through this product. The Aux-in only passes analog Dolby Pro-Logic.

Dolby Digital sounds great from DVD source, unfortunately the engineering folks decided for whatever reason not to include an input (or two) for 5.1 outboard sources.
