Very Good Buy For The Cost!,

This review is from: JVC TH-G41 1000-Watt DVD Digital Theater System with iPod Dock (Electronics)
I am a bit of an audiophile, so I am not easily impressed by many systems I have sen and demoed to date. I purchased this system to set up in my living room, and am pleased with it. The sound is pretty good, and the bass is decent. It has a lot of features for less than a more expensive system. I was able to get this on sale from 6 Ave Electronics for $167 (in store). I appreciate the FM tuner and the iPod dock!
I am using the unit as an HDMI upscaler, and it does a pretty good job of it. When an HD signal is being fed to it, the system automatically goes into bypass mode, which means that the HD signal carries surround sound in it, and it knows what needs to be done already, so it disregards your settings. This is a plus... It is worth taking the few minutes to set up the speakers properly. You should enter the distances for each speaker as per the instructions, and also adjust the volumes on each one to your liking. I personally like more of a surround sound and less coming from the center speaker. My only qualm about this unit to date is that it doesn't have any type of audio out, so that I can feed the signal to another amplifier and add speakers throughout the rest of the house. Overall, I am pleased with it. Its not a DJ setup that will push mind blowing bass and highs, but it does a great job of putting out a clean, well rounded sound. Audiophiles may not be fully satisfied, but the average person will love it!

I stewed over which unit to purchase for weeks. I wanted a good unit that gave me great sound and had some of the features that I was looking for. It also has to look good and it had to be in the right price range. This unit seemed to fit the bill. I was hesitant though because the last unit that I had was a JVC unit and it failed sooner then I thought it should. When this unit arrived I was impressed. It set up easy. Looked nice and it appeared to be just what I was looking for. When I put it to the test and played something though it I knew I had what I was looking for. It gave me the sound quality I wanted and it looked nice with the flat screen TV. One of the main things I wanted in a new unit was the HDMI pass through that this unit offers. I have to tell you it works great. I think things played from a unit hooked up to this unit utilizing the pass through look even better then they would have otherwise. I am very pleased with the unit and hope that it lasts for years to come.

Our aim from the start was to set up a HD TV and home theater on a tight budget. The main features we were looking for in the home theater was HDMI output, HD upscaling, and over 1000-watt surround sound. Oh, and then be as affordable as possible. This was all that.
It looks sharp. Not too fancy - the speakers mounted on the walls don't draw undue attention. It all looks nice - of course, I'm not an audiophile. It does all it is supposed to do, and at the price, I'm very happy with it! What I've been disappointed with: First, the interface, setup menus and such. Very basic, difficult to use/navigate. Also, no auto-setup for the speakers. You'll have to sit, listen, adjust, and set it on your own. It didn't take me too long before I got it sounding good. And lastly, the remote isn't compatible with our universal remote, so we have to play the game of juggling remotes. Worst is when we are switching from DVD to Cable. Oh, the only digital audio input it has is optical. I'd have rathered the orange RCA jack, but hey, it works. The iPOD docking station annoys me, becuase I don't buy Apple's hype. Still, props to them for getting proprietary support. It would be nice to have a USB hookup for any MP3 player.
