5.0 out of 5 stars Great System
I've owned this system for a year and I have had no problems with it. I not an audiophile at all but to me it sounds phenomenal. 2.0 out of 5 stars Bad Subwoofer
After 11 months, the subwoofer no longer works, everything else still works and the rest of the speakers work fine.
Now I have to try and get it fixed, the nearest "Authorized Service Center" is 120 miles away.
May just have to buy another system and sell the rest of this system on ebay,or buy just a new subwoofer on ebay.

I've owned this system for a year and I have had no problems with it. I not an audiophile at all but to me it sounds phenomenal. Its probably a lot more powerful than I needed since I live in a small apartment but its better than not having enough power. DVD works and looks great. Also my wife really likes the appearance. My one criticism which is really too small to affect my 5 star rating is the way the disc load mechanism works. It takes a while to eject and load each of the 5 discs. I haven't timed it but it seems to take longer than what you are used to (6 or 7 seconds maybe). Although it is a small thing, when you are trying to quickly find a disc in one of the 5 trays its a little annoying.

5.0 out of 5 stars Affordable Quality, March 15, 2005
This review is from: JVC TH-M606 Integrated Home Theater System (Electronics)
While no true audiophile will ever be satisfied with an "all in one" system I have to say that this is a great buy. For a fraction of the cost of what a high end component system would run, you get a great surround sound system and DVD. I particularly like the 5 Disc changer aspect of the DVD player - you can keep DVDs and CDs in at all times and ready to play. I did not set up the device myself but it works great - highly recommended!!!

1.0 out of 5 stars Will die on you, August 31, 2008
This review is from: JVC TH-M606 Integrated Home Theater System (Electronics)
Bought it in early 2005. It's now Aug, 2008 and for no reason what-so-ever the subwoofer started to just "click off" (turn off) during any playback (video, stereo, movie, anything). The problem is that the only thing connecting the other 5 speakers to the DVD player is THE SUBWOOFER, so when it "clicks off" (God knows why, all of a sudden), there is no sound, PERIOD! It seems to "click off" at just any random happy old time, typically between 10 to 180 seconds of sound playing. Do yourself a favor, and find something else, unless you reaaly like to buy a new DVD system every couple of years and rewire the whole house.

5.0 out of 5 stars 110% happy about this system and the seller, June 18, 2005

(May 07 update, unit still flawless, no glitches, still a great sound; probably can't buy these anymore but I'd have no hesitation buying another JVC system based on this experience)

I got a great deal on this from techforless, and so was very wary. The other reviews here which I read before buying helped my confidence in this system being good, so I went for it.

I'm amazed First, for under $400 total including freight on the 100lb box from CO to CA, I got it within a few days via UPS. The box looked beat up, but once opened, I think the unit was in fact brand new, it must have been bought and returned unopened by someone. So I'm very happy with techforless.

The system - amazing!! Light gauge prestripped speaker wiring for all 5 speakers is included. (I suggest purchasing better wire)

The provided connector cable from the player to the TV is only for composite video (RCA connectors) which is not very good quality connection, fortunately I had a spare S-Video cable to use. And the 'manual' while adequate for setup and basic functionality is pretty skimpy. And it is slow to shuffle and get a CD/DVD unloaded but we're talking 5-8 seconds here. Chill!

Those are my my ONLY criticisms.

Once connected, I played my first 'home theatre' DVD movie, and my wife and I were just knocked out by the sound. Wow, what we've been missing. Our living room is about 15' x 25' and this system could fill one twice this size no question.

Seriously, if this thing doesn't break within a year, I'll have had my moneys worth and more. Sound is amazing, the bottom end via subwoofer fills the room, and the range of controls and sophisticated setup possibilities, tuning the sound in every possible way, just awesome. I have a lot to learn to really get 100% of what this system offers.

I was prepared to spend $1000, I'm so glad I took a chance on this system. Couldn't be happier.
