Product Description

From the Manufacturer

At under two inches in height, this JVC player is as sleek as it is versatile. The XV-NP1SL offers premium-quality progressive-scan video (for use with a high-definition or HD-ready TV) and JVC's custom 1-bit P.E.M. D.D. digital-to-analog audio converter with 192 kHz/24-bit resolution. Beyond its capabilities with optical media, the unit also boasts a memory card slot equipped to read MP3 music and JPEG images from all major memory formats: SD/MMC, SmartMedia, Compact Flash, and Memory Stick.

The XV-NP1SL is optimized for the ultra-high audio sampling frequency of 192 kHz, providing an extra-wide frequency range to realize the benefits of high-spec sources. Its 10-bit, 54 MHz super-high video sampling frequency ensures detailed images and clear, pure colors for DVD movies.

JVC's Digital Direct Progressive Scan Output, quantified as 480p for the number of horizontal lines that compose the video image, creates a picture using twice the scan lines of a conventional DVD picture, providing higher resolution and sharper images while eliminating nearly all motion artifacts. High-quality component-video outputs help minimize line scan and digital artifacts on compatible televisions, while composite- and S-video outputs assure compatibility with nearly any set.

A high-resolution onscreen graphical user interface (GUI) allows Windows-like interactive operation with tool bars superimposed onto the TV screen for simple point-and-click operation. Other convenience features include 1.5x playback with sound, 13-step high-quality zoom, and Screen Fill, which zooms in on a DVD image to eliminate letterbox "bars" on the TV screen. JVC's versatile VFP (Video Fine Processor) allows seven parameters of advanced picture adjustment, including gamma, brightness, contrast, color, tint, sharpness, and "Y delay." In addition to two factory presets (normal and cinema) there are two user-selectable memories.

A single set of left/right analog-audio outputs channel audio to Dolby Pro Logic receivers and stereo televisions. Both Dolby Digital and DTS 5.1-channel surround-sound signals can be routed through the player's digital-audio outputs (one each coaxial and optical) for direct connection to a full-featured audio/video receiver.

3.0 out of 5 stars It is a really good DVD player but...., October 20, 2004
This review is from: JVC XV-NP1SL DVD Player with Multimedia Card Slot , Silver (Electronics)
I bought it for the MPEG-1/MPEG-4 on SD CF card capability. It does not do this. Amazon should not say it does. I will be contacting them about this. It plays .asf type MPEG-4 NOT MPEG-1 unless it's a CD ROM or DVD Video (VCD/SVCD). It also says it cannot play memory cards greater than 128Mb (or 256Mb CF SD cards), but it has. Although the actual file it played was very small-It was on a 512Mb CF card. Also it was "initialized" (formatted) on a PC (WIN ME) The manual says that won't work but it did. Probably great if you are using it for a Digital Video Camera, but not recording from a TV tuner card onto memory card. Kind of wide, may not fit into some entertainment systems. (stands) Very light though. Owned for a few hours, paid ninety-nine bucks for it. (half off) Will keep, no others play MPEG-1 anyway. Hope this helps someone. :)
