5.0 out of 5 stars Best Blu-Ray Player!!!, January 12, 2010
This review is from: JVC XVBP11 Blu-ray Player (Electronics)
First, I bought a Memorex blu-ray player and had problems with it. It stopped for about a second every so often during a movie. And I found out it was only the dvds that had a problem playing on it, though it plays blu-ray fine. Then I tried 2 Samsung blu-ray players and they both had the same problem of freezing for a 1/2 second while playing regular dvds. But this player is excellent and it plays blu-rays perfectly as well as dvds. I have had it for a while now and never had any problems on it. I really like the menu on it also. It is the best I've had and I'm very pleased!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent entry level Blu-Ray for the price, March 11, 2010

There is a significant amount of mixed press on this player but I've had good luck with JVC in the past and decided to give the XVBP11 a try. I am not disappointed. The DVD upconvert is very good, comparable with my friend's Sony player. Where this unit really stands out is the audio. Using a digital coax cable out to connect to my receiver produces sound that impressed even my wife (who is still upset I spent money on a Blu-Ray player...) I did update the firmware based on some of the reviews I'd read. This process is very easy - you just download a file from JVC's website and install it using a USB flash drive plugged in to the front of the unit. Give this unit a good look when you are shopping for Blu-Ray players.

5.0 out of 5 stars JVC does it again, April 4, 2010

I bought this one for my mom and just hooked it up for her when I went to visit last week. The menu is pretty extensive, yet simple to use--tech-head or not. We tried photo disks, blue ray disks and regular DVD disks and they ALL worked flawlessly! The remote is much better from greater distances and less "crowded" (number/size of buttons) than my 1-year old DVD's remote.

This product shows that you have no need to spend exorbitant amounts of money to get quality. I think that $150 or $160 with shipping was well worth the cost for the result.
