JVC XV-N322S DVD Player,
This review is from: JVC XVN322S Progressive Scan DVD Player , Silver (Electronics)
Excellent moderately priced DVD player. It plays most DVD's and CD's in today's world including DVD-R, and CD-R. It plays all without skipping, hesitation or freezing up. I was very impressed with it's ability to play badly scratched CD's that I couldn't get to play on any other player. Although designed primarily for NSTC use, it also plays some PAL format DVD's. I tried a couple on it. One worked, one did not. I have a feeling it was the DVD disc more than the player. Slimline and very compact. My only criticism of the player is that the case doesn't feel very solidly built. Instruction manual doesn't give much info. Could provide a bit more information about the player. Overall however, it is an excellent product and I would recommend it.

I needed a DVD player to play my German DVDs (PAL), films that I copied from German TV. This player does a fine job at a decent price. Players like this are hard to find since Mintek who used to make players with a PAL feature cannot be found any more.
Note: Anyone interested in this player, please do consider that if you want to play DVDs which you PURCHASED overseas additionally have inbedded "Region 2". You cannot play Region 2 on this or any other player in the USA.

Nowadays manufacturers of dvd players in general seem to care less and less about quality, and this unit is certainly the summit of such phenomenon.
Right out of the box, the unit feels too light, make you feel it is fragile and flimsy. Every touch on the unit (like pressing any button on the player) would almost surely make it move. You can feel the unit shake when it plays the dvd. The quality of the video output certainly is not the best even if you use s-video output. I had a Panasonic dvd player and side-by-side comparison would immediately make you see the difference. The unit does not play Windows Media format, which is also quite a nuance. The fastforward speed is 5x at maximum. Other players like my Panasonic has 100x. And the worst of all, it broke after only half year of service. Video output seems to shift horizontally somewhat, and color is totally incorrect. It finally becomes a useless piece of .... I am finally relieved though. I don't even bother to have it repaired since I don't think it is worth the effort and money. Please stay away from this player, or maybe the whole JVC family of players if you can. Find a better built one!
