Replaced a dead Sony Xplod CDX-R3350 with this, chose it for its low price, 20 Watt RMS / channel, parametric equalizer. Massive upgrade. Sound is clear at much higher volumes with the same speakers, but highs, mids and lows noticeably muddle together in comparison. In my old, loud car this isn't an issue. Parametric EQ a little weird to use, but 3-band EQ is also available and very easy to change on the fly. Build is very solid, and doesn't feel or look cheap, faceplate and buttons don't rattle. The interface is not perfect, but pretty intuitive, wish the long button press didn't take as long. Operating unit by feel with the occasional glance is quite easy to do.

No idea how well it drives a sub as I don't have one. Don't listen to the radio so no comment there. I get a bit of a hiss at high volumes on the aux line, but that might be my player. At the price I feel the level of the hiss is entirely acceptable and only noticeable if you're looking for it. But I remind, my car is loud and I'm not strictly speaking an audiophile.

Dimmer function on my unit causes a prominent high pitched whine, but the function can be turned off. Basically, instead of having one brightness for the day and one for night (activated by the headlights turning on) as the unit is designed, I have to use a single brightness level. Couldn't find anyone who had the same problem, support told me that it could only be caused by electrical noise on the lighting circuit of the car and turned me away. I don't really believe them, doesn't make sense to me as an EE. When I have some time I will disconnect the 'illumination' line and turn on the dimming function manually, see if it still causes a whine. Honestly, I don't feel like this is a huge deal, but a star off nonetheless.

You can't beat this CD player for the money (~$60). I ordered this one because I have an almost identical model in my truck. Needed one for my car, and this one is the same unit without integrated HD radio. I honestly do not use that feature much anyways in my area.

It is very simple to use. The controls are super easy once you play with the menus a couple of times. The unit has a very clean look to it which is what I want. I was not looking for a super flashy unit with 100 colors and dancing lights on the face. It also feels well built as the buttons and knob are not cheap feeling. Some of the units that cost 2x this unit feel really cheap.

This unit is 20 watts RMS power. This is the actual output, not peak numbers. Many other units I have seen on here are 14 watts RMS. The more power, the cleaner the unit will play without distortion at a given volume level.

Another great feature is a FRONT and REAR AUX inputs. You can use the rear input and not have a plug sticking out of the front. The rear input can also be connected to an optional Bluetooth adapter which is sold separately. It also has 1 pair of RCA outputs for an amplifier.

The unit has an audible BEEP when you press a button, I find this feature distracting so it can be disabled in the menu. You can also disable the AM radio and rear AUX input in the menu if you don't use them. This way when you press the Source button you will not cycle through those as well.

There is a 3 band parametric EQ which works pretty well to tweak the sound. It has preset modes for the EQ, but have never found those to be great. This way I can set my own. There is also a high pass filter which will cut the lower frequencies out to help prevent distortion. I don't use this feature however, just the EQ.

I bought this deck for my boat. Installation was a snap, and I love the fact I have a choice between front and back aux inputs, plus the ability to choose between pre-outs for either a sub, or full range to my amp that I currently have going to my polk audio marine speakers. The quality of this deck is excellent. I have zero alternator noise coming through my speakers, the dimmable display is great, and you have several levels of brightness to choose from for both day and night conditions. The display dims automatically when you have the lead wire from the deck attached to the headlight circuit on your vehicle. The parametric eq gives me the ability to make the sound even more superb, however if parametric eq is to confusing for you, it does have a 3-band graphic eq as well. Basic controls are easy to read and work with. The menu options are easy to navigate, but still a little bit to get used to since I have to remember to actually push the volume button to confirm my selection, otherwise the selection you have on the display will not take effect.

The remote is small and skinny, but the controls are easy to work and responsive. I would recommend a lanyard to attach to it so you won't lose it!!!

I have yet to use the bluetooth capability, but the rest of the deck's features are not dissapointing. If you're looking for a GREAT buy with lots of features and a fantastic parametric eq, look no further. This JVC deck works PERFECT! Clean, crisp sound, lots of low to high band ranges and zero interference from electronics and chassis.

Super-happy with my choice. Would recommend to others!
