The brush works better than any I've ever owned.

I was amazed at the amount of undercoat this rake brushed off our dog this spring when the shedding really kicked in.

This rake is great to use on his shorter hair to get out all of the undercoat.

I have had Shepherds for over 20 years and have wasted tons of money on various combs/rakes/brushes/curries trying to find something that works on this breed's coat. My search is over! I just had the most productive 30 minute grooming session EVER with my 11 year old Shepherd. Very little effort on my part to get tons of that hard-to-get undercoat out and Jenna loved it so much she FELL ASLEEP during the session! I had to wake her up to have her roll over so I could do the other side and she immediately fell right back asleep...must feel like a doggie massage! Would recommend this product to anyone owning a Shepherd!

I work as a bather at a Petco and this rake is just priceless to me when working on heavy-shedding dogs with super thick coats. It does not work on all heavy undercoated breeds though, keep that in mind, it is designed for a specific coat type (along the lines of Huskies and many German Shepherds). No other brush in my arsenal can pull the hair out like this one can, though, not even the Furminator.

My 8 month old german shepherd is currently in the middle of blowing his coat...received the brush yesterday and within 15 minutes of brushing him, I had a 1 foot tall ball of hair. Works just like it says and feels very sturdy in the hand. Make sure to brush at an angle as shown in the directions on the back, my dog wasn't a fan of the first way I was brushing (horizontal) but when I angled it, he was completely fine and laid down for me.

We have Australian shepherds and one has especially thick, long hair. No matter what brushes we have used she drops fur all over our floor. This has been the first product we have tried that really gets down deep to the undercoat. We will get fistfuls of hair and best of all, the rake is easy to clean. She does not mind the brushing and we do not mind her being in the house!

This is an excellent rake for comfort grip and removing undercoat. I am a groomer, and I have used this rake for the last two weeks. In that time I have used it on a variety of large breeds including border collies, german shepherds, golden retrievers, huskies, leonbergers, chows, and more. I have found it very effective in getting a lot of undercoat out in a short amount of time. It's not so great for getting knots out unless the knots are only loosely attached. Same with mats. I prefer my de-mat comb for those kinds of jobs. This rake is so effective, my boss bought a variety of rakes for the shop (of course none of those have as comfortable a grip as mine, sadly).
I rate this at 4 stars because on some huskies, the rake doesn't do as well. It'll do ok, but it'll have some difficulty catching the clumps on huskies with very fine, thick hair. For all the other breeds I have used this on, it certainly does a wonderful job. Some of my co-workers continue to ask me if they can use my rake instead of the shop's! If you have a large breed with lots of hair, I definitely recommend this!

I have bought brushes, the furminator, you name it and nothing has worked until this. My dog loves it and so do I. You can see it actually pulling out dead hair from the undercoat. This will make my life so much easier.

I have two dogs, one a border collie/shepherd mix with LONG/FULL(lots of) hair and the other a pit/greyhound mix with SHORT/FULL hair. Both shed like crazy and although this rake says it can be used on all hair types, it works much better on the long hair. It works on the short hair, but just seems to loosen the undercoat and raise the shedding hair to the surface where you need to wipe it off or use another brush to collect it.
But, this DOES work beautifully for the long hair! In about 2 mins I collected a massive hair ball, and the only problem I can see is that my dog liked it too much and just laid down to enjoy it.

Needless to say, one side of her got much more brushing than the other.

5 stars for the use on long hair!

I've been looking everywhere for a good undercoat rake which matches one I bought over 10 years ago for my now 16 year old German Spitz. The old rake was the best grooming tool I'd ever used, with its alternating long and short teeth, but unfortunately, the teeth have started corroding and don't go smoothly through the coat anymore. So I bought this based on the excellent reviews of how effective this rake was (and couldn't resist the packaging with the Eskie/Japanese spitz!)

Having used it a few times now, I agree it is an excellent rake for a dog with a thick undercoat. It works well for both my spitzes (Japanese and German) so it would be great for the others in that family e.g. Keeshond, Samoyed, Lapphund (but not Pomeranian) with that massive woolly undercoat and long guard hairs. It works best holding it as shown on the back of pack : angled and holding the handle exactly as it is designed. It works on the undercoat as well as my old rake, however, it is quite large and I found the handle chunky and heavy compared to my old rake and slicker brush. At 8 and 11 kg and and 13/15 inches at the withers, my dogs fall into the small/medium category so I wish there was a smaller version of this which would be more effective for my dogs. Due to its size, it's harder to get angles with this, so the 'armpits", back of the front legs and sides of chest, which can matt ferociously, are hard to reach. I have to modify how I hold it, by putting my fingers through the hole and using a completely different motion, to reach those troublesome areas. For those parts, my old rake was definitely better. It might not be such an issue for a larger dog though.
