Product Description

Shruti [child artiste Hansika Motwani] is the 10-year-old daughter of Shrikant [Sanjay Kapoor] and Shraddha [Raveena Tandon]. She travels to her school by the local train every morning. One day, she accidentally gets locked up in her school and by the time she catches a train to go home, it is already midnight. Three young drug addicts also board the train and seeing her alone, they rape her in front of three passengers who seem afraid and helpless to come to her aid. Shruti is brought in an unconscious state to the hospital by the police. She breathes her last in front of her aggrieved parents. The city is shocked by this untoward incident. The case is handed over to Kripa Shankar Thakur [Manoj Bajpai], an upright and honest cop from the Crime Branch. From here starts an unusual legal battle between the honest and the corrupt.

About the Actor

Sanjay Kapoor (born 17 October 1965 in Mumbai, India) is a Bollywood actor and producer.Son of film producer Surinder Kapoor, he is the younger brother of actor Anil Kapoor and producer Boney Kapoor and brother-in-law of actress Sridevi. His sister Reena is married to Sandeep Marwah of Marwah Studios. He is married to an Indian from Perth, Australia, Maheep Sandhu.

He began his career opposite Tabu in the film Prem. It was Raja opposite Madhuri Dixit that brought him box office success .Though Raja was a hero-centric and successful film ,yet Madhuri Dixit stole the show totally and it did not bring much offers to Sanjay Kapoor. Critics and viewers called Raja out and out 'Madhuri Dixit film' and suggested Raja should had been renamed Rani . Karisma Kapoor in Manish Malhotra show said "" when people and critics would talk about Madhuri Dixit and Raja in 1995 , I used to think when such thing would happen to me and it happened to me in Raja Hindustani . "" . He has also given critically-acclaimed performances as a villain playing the obsessive psychotic husband of Esha Deol in Koi Mere Dil Se Poochhe which was a hit and he was playing a terrorist in the film Qayamat: City Under Threat which was also a hit.

There is not much douwdt that Raveena Tandon and Sanjeev Kapoor are few of the finer actors of the Indian Cinema. The emotion they display of the agony of a couple in their situation is laudable. Then there is Manoj Bajpai as the detective-a slice of good acting. The drama is well chronicled and narrated. In retrospect this tragedy could have been prevented. This is a classic story of silence and apathy that is prevalent in a Metropolis like Mubai-almost as if there is a price to pay for living there. All in all this is a watchable Pic. Some of the scenes make you cringe, which is aftermath of knowing that this was a real story. There is enormous talent that is yet to be tapped especially in Directors and screen-writing. This is a sad but well portrayed story with the best of the lot being Raveena who has the immaculate style, a natural poise and a clear diction.
