The movie is about a wastrel playboy heir to grandpa's wealth (played by Salman Khan who has so often played this sort of role). His life gets tangled with a poor dancer (Urmilla Matondkar) who is dancing to support her family. For various reasons he pretends she is his wife for a short time. She falls for him and befriends his grandpa but then his old girlfriends and unsavory friends show up and everything unravels.
Now the plot dragged a little at times and they could have spent a bit more time on Salman's character waking up to himself (as it is one of those unbelievable Bollywood turnarounds). However a few things raised this to a little above the average. Mostly these were Urmilla, her dancing and the big item numbers choreographed for her. She dazzles and has personality to engage whenever she is on, both dancing and acting. Salman doesn't get a chance to do more than a one-dimensional job of this (and he must have been 'over' doing this same sort of part all the time) but he is fine. Shammi Kapoor as the grandpa is good, as is Jaspal Bhatti as the secretary.
So I give 4 for Urmilla as it is her movie - even though the movie generally was average to a smidgen above!. Elsewhere on the Net, response to this film is mixed. Frequently it gets above average but IMDb had it running at average or even a little below (with some giving it full score!) Obviously it depends what you are looking for.
