Customer Reviews

I will throw these away so nobody else will end up with them.
Jill A Hochstetter
They are much more comfortable than the factory ones, stay in your ear better, and sound better in noisy environments.
Osmun R. Latrobe
The product is not new, they are old returns repackaged and sold off to the next unsuspecting buyer.

When I received my Jawbone Era the first thing that I noticed was that like other Jawbones, the product was great, but the earpieces were, well, less than optimal. I looked to Amazon for relief and sure enough found that Jabra made some eargels. THEN I read the reviews. Wouldn't take them as a gift. BUT I noted a few weeks ago that Amazon had a subtle change in their writeup. It noted that the small rubber ring supplied by Jawbone should be placed on the earpiece before the Jabra eargel is put in place. It occurred to me that this might indeed solve the problems that the earlier reviewers had had. So I clinched my teeth and ordered a set. They (six:right/left,small-large)arrived today. I did as instructed by Amazon (oddly the eargels have no instructions for such an important issue). The appropriate eargel fit beautifully, a real blessing in comfort and sound over the standard sets, and, MOST IMPORTANT, the eargel fits the earpiece. No looseness, no turning or drooping or falling out. This is the way it was meant to be. A great product.

Jabra makes a great product, but I do fault them for not giving instructions as to the need to use the small Jawbone ring under it. That is not intuitively obvious. Frankly, it would not have occurred to me. If you already bought this product and haven't thrown them away, put them on as noted and you should be very happy.

I do encourage Jawbone users to get these eargels. They are much more comfortable than the factory ones, stay in your ear better, and sound better in noisy environments.

I recently got a Jawbone ERA and after weeks of trying to find the perfect fit with the bundled earpieces, I gave up and decided to try a third party set. I came across these Jabra earpieces from a review of the Jawbone ERA here on Amazon. Many of the reviews here claim to have issues with the Jabra earpieces not fitting properly over the ERA's speaker, but others claim it works fine when you follow the instructions listed on this product page. The instructions above state to install the smallest bundled earpiece on the Jawbone (the one that is just a rubber ring), then use the Jabra earpiece over it. I can say that this worked like a charm for me, and the earpiece does not shift or move at all; rather, it is snug as a sock. I can also say that the earpieces themselves are definitely better for me than the stock Jawbone earpieces. With the bundled earpieces I frequently found myself pressing the Jawbone lightly against my ear to maximize sound volume in the car whereas the Jabra's just work for me.

Pros:
1. The original Jawbone fit attachments do not seem to stay in my ears well enough. These ear gels improve the fit for me. It is better, but not perfect. Perhaps my ears are odd, since most earbuds do not stay in very well for me.
2. Likely due to better fit, these also increase the volume. They may distort the sound a bit, but certainly do not adversely affect understanding of the person on the other end of the line.
3. Multiple sizes provided to increase chance of good fit.

Cons:
1. The fit on the Jawbone so that the gel does not reduce the sound volume and distort is little finicky, though the gel stays put, if one places it over one of the small jawbone "rings" include with the earpiece. Unfortunately, no instructions are included with the ear gels to let one know this.
2. Positioning the ear gel / jawbone combo so that it fits well in one's ear and the jawbone sensor touches one's face is a bit finicky.
3. Cost is too high, especially after shipping from third party Amazon seller.
4. The ear gel prevents the jawbone from fitting into it's neoprene carrying case.

Bottom Line: I'm still using these. They improve my experience and would recommend, though Cons #1 and #2 prevents this from being higher than 3 stars.

Before: Jawbone ERA would fall out all the time - even after trying all the fits and loops etc.

After: I got these gels - no more problems. The Jawbone now fits in my ear and rests on my cheek like it should - and it does that all day. I barely notice it is there.

Why Jawbone don't ship these as standard, I just do not know. I guess the clear plastic does not look quite as stylish as the black - especially once you start getting ear wax in the hole... (yeah it looks gross - so act discrete in front of people if you need to take it out).

I used the Jawbone small circle fit (as suggested) - then put one of these over the top. Smashing.

I attached the 2nd smallest regular rubber ear bud that came with my Jawbone ERA on it as has been explained in above reviews. Then placed the Jabra Ear Gel over this. This works great and stays where I want it. The sound is of better quality than using any of the rubber mounts that come with the ERA. It is very comfortable as well and is not painful like the original buds that come with the ERA. Stays in place all day long. I can't be happier. Too bad the ERA does not come with comfortable ear buds that really work like these Jabra Ear Gels do. :(

If you didn't save the ear pieces that came in the original packaging you will have to buy some replacements to make this work.

The ear gels require that you have one of the 'donut' shaped pieces on the headset before you put on the jabra gel. The second smallest one worked well for me.

This easily bumps the Jawbone Era headset of mine up to most comfortable headset I've ever owned. I never could get it quite right with the included gels, and generally had to switch the headset to the opposite ear every 45 minutes or so as that's all I could stand it. With these gels on there my first outing I had the headset in my ear for 5 hours before my ear got tired.

The only con is that it's not a simple matter to switch sides, as that requires swapping to the appropriate side gel.

If you have a jawbone headset and find the ear gel to be lacking or uncomfortable, this is a product you should almost definitely get. I have nothing but good things to say about this product. It holds more securely, more comfortably and the sound clarity is improved because of how the gel channels the sound and blocks out more ambient noise.
