4.0 out of 5 stars Best of Both Worlds?
This product is a great combination of the two types of technologies that are proven to work well: the jabra eargels and the microphone that is integrated into the chord. By integrating the microphone in the chord, it is out of the way. The eargels are very comfortable and the earbud itself provides good quality sound without the threat of being easily pulled out like...

1.0 out of 5 stars Simply ... dreadful, April 25, 2002
This review is from: Jabra EarBud for phones with Universal 2.5mm Jack (Wireless Phone Accessory)
I've owned three of these bad boys in the last six months. The serious design flaws aren't simply manufacturing errors. The most common problem, the earpiece unit comes apart quite easily. This generally causes the unit to break entirely as the wires disconnect from the earphone.

Most commonly, I've had complaints from callers that the headset makes me inaudible or fuzzy sounding.

I've switched to a different brand. I liked the Jabra ear gels, which I found comfortable. However, the shortcomings in the quality of the headset makes this a choice of which to be wary.

I have been using the Jabra earbud for over 3 years now. Its been a love/hate relationship. I love them because they fit so easily into the ear, the sound quality is great and I love the in-line answer button. I hate that I have had to replace them approximately every 6 months or so! The cord shorts out and just stops working. On one set, I had the ear bud become detached from the unit. Well, that's my two cents, excuse while I order another set...

4.0 out of 5 stars Best of Both Worlds?, June 1, 2001
This review is from: Jabra EarBud for phones with Universal 2.5mm Jack (Wireless Phone Accessory)
This product is a great combination of the two types of technologies that are proven to work well: the jabra eargels and the microphone that is integrated into the chord. By integrating the microphone in the chord, it is out of the way. The eargels are very comfortable and the earbud itself provides good quality sound without the threat of being easily pulled out like other models which are just jammed into the ear. Additionally, the microphone is not attached directly to the earpiece. It hangs from the chord without adding any weight that can contribute to ear fatigue. The only other model that might rival this product as far as comfort goes is the type of headset that wraps around the ear. The con of that type of headset is that it's not as easily placed in the ear as this product. In conclusion, a wonderfully engineered product. Get one before they run out!

2.0 out of 5 stars almost useless in a car, June 7, 2001
By A Customer

This review is from: Jabra EarBud for phones with Universal 2.5mm Jack (Wireless Phone Accessory)
This is a nice little device when I used it at home, when i was not moving around and in a quiet environment. However, in a car, moving at any speed above 30mph, the quality stunk. First, the sound I hear in the earpiece is very tunneled, like the other person is speaking way to close to the phone, and there's a lot of background noise all of a sudden. But that isn't tooo bad. The worst part is that the person on the other end has a hard time hearing me. They tell me it's like i have all of my windows open (which I didn't). I know it's not the reception of the phone because I'd unplug the earbud and talk fine w/ the normal phone.

One other thing that annoyed me, is that if i have it plugged into the phone (Startac, w/ Sprint PCS), when someone calls it only rings into the earpiece, so I can't tell if someone calls unless I have the earpiece in all the time, OR I plug it in after someone calls - not very convenient when on the road.

5.0 out of 5 stars Works great after 3 years, March 5, 2004

After trying many other earpieces, this is the only one I will use -- I can't use an earbud without the molded eargel (I don't have that little "dip" in the outline of my ear canal so the little buds w/o gels fall out) and I hate those earpieces that wrap around your ear or have a boom coming out the side of your head -- they are too weighty and bulky and eventually become uncomfortable.

Plus, I really like the eargel. It's lightweight, funnels the sound directly into my ear (no variations because it's always in the same place) and provides a lot of security -- it never falls out when I'm walking or getting out of the car. If it feels uncomfortable, you are probably using the wrong size eargel and should try another size.

Third, and probably most important, the sound is terrific -- in both directions. After many years of use (the same product but I've had to replace it once -- the cord frayed from constantly being bent and put away) I've never even once had anyone complain that they couldn't hear me, that I sounded far away or fuzzy, etc. 95% of my use is in a moving car -- a truck -- which isn't as quiet as a Mercedes or BMW; it still sounds really good.

This product works exactly as it should, is comfortable to wear and is VERY inexpensive. What more could you ask?!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Earbud works great with minor modification, March 28, 2004
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Jabra EarBud for phones with Universal 2.5mm Jack (Wireless Phone Accessory)
I've been using the same Jabra earbud for over 2 years now (in fact mine is so old, it's the original design with the microphone built into the earpiece), and it still works great, with one minor modification. The ear gel kept falling off when I removed the earbud (leaving the gel in my ear), and also fell off all the time in the car, in my pocket, and everywhere else. So, after the second time I lost my ear gel, I glued the gel on the earbud (with "Household Goop"), and it's been working great since. The reception and transmission have been fine with my Motorolla phone, and now I'm buying one for my wife.

2.0 out of 5 stars Major Microphone problems, March 5, 2002

I agree with a previous review, that the microphone on these
devices are useless. I've had my EarBud for 10 days and the microphone has already stopped working.

1.0 out of 5 stars Breaks easily, August 30, 2002

This review is from: Jabra EarBud for phones with Universal 2.5mm Jack (Wireless Phone Accessory)
I used the earbud for about six months and the gel cover constantly came off and was lost in my briefcase. It finally split in two and the earphone disconnected from the unit. They are really fragile so plan on replacing them frequently.

I just bought this product and have used it for 1/2 hour and am returning it. The quality is HORRIBLE. People sound garbled and they said I sounded garble. It was as if I was talking through a gauze sheet with lots of static. I do not recommend this item at all.

The ear gel works OK. It helps with staying in the ear and with shielding out some noise. The microphone is awful, though, rendering the device useless. Cuts out, sounds bad, just don't buy it.
