4.0 out of 5 stars Good middle of the road earpiece from Jabra. Enjoy.
Jabra makes, by far the best hands-free devices on the market. The EarWave Boom is a good model that will satisfy 90% of people who need hands-free functionality for their cell phones.

Jabra has gotten away from the full molded ear gels for this model. I personally prefer them to the mini ear gels, but this unit fits fine in your ear with the ear...

The sound quality is very good on my end. I can hear the people I am talking to better than directly with a handset. The gels are good and overall weight of the unit is comfortable enough on the ear.
However...
Everyone I have talked to has complained of a significant loss of clarity on their end, especially when I am driving in a car.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good middle of the road earpiece from Jabra. Enjoy., February 4, 2005
This review is from: Jabra EarWave Boom with Universal 2.5mm connector (Wireless Phone Accessory)
Jabra makes, by far the best hands-free devices on the market. The EarWave Boom is a good model that will satisfy 90% of people who need hands-free functionality for their cell phones.

Jabra has gotten away from the full molded ear gels for this model. I personally prefer them to the mini ear gels, but this unit fits fine in your ear with the ear wrap-around. It's comfortable and works fine.

As for the hands-free jack on your phone, you have to make sure you have a 2.5 millimeter jack. That is the one with 2 stripes on the plug. Calling this "Universal" is a little bit of an overstatement, but with a little research you can verify which model fits your phone. Unfortunately, a specific compatibility list is hard to come by. Look at the specs for your phone and give it a try.

The microphone will capture sound just fine. For those who experience a lot of interference or muffling, I recommend you try the version with "Noise Cancelling." It's about $7 more but for certain models of phone the difference can be worth it.

The Jabra EarWrap has a slightly better wraparound attachment and a slightly longer arm. For those who don't like the microphone arm, the Jabra EarWave Bud doesn't have a microphone arm, but instead has the small mic on the cable with a clip to attach it to your tie or shirt. Personally I don't like those models.

I have not found much difference in sound quality between the different Jabra models. The differences are mainly in comfort, style, and ease of use. This product is decently priced, but I think it could be more affordable.

Try other higher end models if you are more demanding, like I am, and are willing to spend the money. This is a pretty good model though, definitely enough to satisfy most users.

4.0 out of 5 stars As good as a small headset can be, December 8, 2004

I received this headset with my phone, and have been pretty pleased with it. It's lightweight, flexible, and the pointed earpiece is very comfortable to wear. It's a bit awkward to attach to your ear at first, but once you get the hang of it you can do it with one hand while driving in a second (place the earpiece in your ear so that the headset is on the outside of your ear, then pull your ear through the headset to get it in position).

The only drawback I've found is that the microphone is in a bad position for when it's windy outside; the person on the other end will just hear noise. The same thing will happen if you are in the car with the air conditioning or heater pointed towards you. However, this can really be expected with all but the bulkiest headsets, so this is a minor setback.

4.0 out of 5 stars Clean, Clear Sound., July 15, 2004
This review is from: Jabra EarWave Boom with Universal 2.5mm connector (Wireless Phone Accessory)
With my Samsung X105 (T-Mobile), I have gone through at least 6 hands-free set while driving, at work, at home, etc. I have come to realize that out of all those, this product is the most affordable with the best quality hands-free set available. The gel fits snugly into your ear (although one friend told me it didn't fit her) and the sound is crisp and clear, and with the noise-cancellation technology, all other noises are disregarded.

The boom-mic lets the other callers hear you better, while the mic nor the cords disrupt you while you're working or driving. With one of the shortest mics available on the market, this is a good and affordable product.

5.0 out of 5 stars The perfect headset!, November 17, 2004
This review is from: Jabra EarWave Boom with Universal 2.5mm connector (Wireless Phone Accessory)
I just bought this headset and I am so happy with it. I cannot wear earbud-type headsets because the opening to my ear is very small and even the smallest bud doesn't fit - I know a lot of people with the same problem. This is the perfect solution because the bud is sort of pointed and just barely goes into the outer ear. This is so much more clear, I use it in the car, around the house, etc. The way the mike is set up, it is not ideal for windy conditions at all. Everyone that I have talked to says that it is very clear, they would not know I was on a headset. I highly recommend this product.

5.0 out of 5 stars Almost ideal headset, October 27, 2004
This review is from: Jabra EarWave Boom with Universal 2.5mm connector (Wireless Phone Accessory)
I have had a really hard time finding a headset that I really like that I can use everyday, this one is getting close.

Comfort:
The Jabra is really comfortable. I can wear it for hours and not notice it. While it stays securly in place, not shifting around much, it is really a quite loose fit and you barely feel it is there.

It's really easy to put on and take off as well, this can be done easily with one hand while driving.

Sound Quality:
I have never had a problem hearing people on the other end.

People on the other end of the connection sometimes complain that the sound quality is slightly worse that if I am speaking directly into the handset, but it has never really impeded a conversation. If I call people with the headset on and never give them a chance to compare with and without headset sound quality, nobody complains.

The thing that would make this perfect would be an answer/end call button built in like my previous headset had, but even lacking that I would highly recommend this one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for Xbox Live as well, March 4, 2005

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Jabra EarWave Boom with Universal 2.5mm connector (Wireless Phone Accessory)
I bought this headset to use a replacement for the headset that comes with Xbox Live (the online service for Xbox game consoles). The standard Xbox Live headset is very clumsy and fragile. Fortunately, it can be replaced with any headset that uses a standard 1/8" jack. All you do is disconnect the standard headset from the adapter (the block thing with the volume control that plugs into your Xbox controller), and connect the Jabra in its place. It takes a little force to push it in all the way, but otherwise it fits perfectly.

The other reason I wanted to replace the Xbox headset is because with some Xbox games (like Mech Assault 2), if I want to wear headphones, I need to wear them over the headset. As you can imagine, that's uncomfortable. The Jabra headset fits over the ear and is flush against the head. While I'm wearing it, I can comfortably wear my headphones over it.

Not only does this headset work with my Xbox, but it works with my cordless phone and my cell phone. That makes this headset a great value.

The sound is very good, and everyone I talk to says my voice is clear. I think this is a great headset, and I'm very happy with my purchase.

I must say that I was very skeptical of ordering a head set for less than $5 when Walmart sells the same thing for over $30 and when it arrived in 3 days in a small envelope instead of the prety plastic package at Walmart, my heart sank. I put it on my ear (that was easy and very comfortable), pluged it into my phone and pressed the call button on the mike. WOW!! This thing is LOUD and the mike is very seneitive also. I have 9 different headsets for my cell phone trying to find the right one, and now I have. I am ordering another one right away incase I loose this one.

1.0 out of 5 stars Do not buy the EarWave Boom, February 16, 2005

I need to use the hands-free while driving b/c our city has a law that requires you to do so. I bought the Jabra EarWave Boom b/c my last hands-free boom broke. The main problem is as follows:

The earpiece is plastic and sits in your ear--It comes with two different size plastic attachments and one should be better than the other for you. Some may find the attachment inside the ear uncomfortable, but I think it's fine if it were to actually stay in your ear. You cannot move your head from side to side without the earpiece coming out--this is a problem if you are trying to drive. If the earpiece comes out of your ear, you will not be able to hear the person on the other line--at all. If you turn up your phone to compensate you can hear a little better. That is until the earpiece falls back into place, and then you get blasted by it being too loud. I have found the plantronics boom to be much better, and would recommend that before the Jabra.
This is not a good product.
