5.0 out of 5 stars Great macerator pump!
I installed one of these on my RV sewer outlet a year ago and it has been wonderful. I just flip a switch and it empties the holding tanks in a few minutes through a 3/4" garden hose. Required some creative plumbing work to hook up, but nothing too difficult for the mechanically inclined. Recommended.

The 18590 pump is held together with 4 BRASS studs. These studs are exposed to the effluent the pump discharges and they dissolve in about three to six months, allowing the pump to come apart and the sewage to leak into your boat. Jabsco has not responded to my inquiries about this problem. Jabsco needs to change that design. Don't buy this pump unless you fabricate...

4.0 out of 5 stars Jabsco 18590-2092 Marine Run-Dry Heavy Duty Macerator Waste Pump, February 18, 2012

I purchased the Macerator waste pump and plumbed it to use on my Motor Home. It took a lot of time to plumb it to work on my RV but once it was plumbed up it works very well. It calls for a 1" ID outlet hose but I plumbed it using a 5/8" garden hose on the outlet side of pump and it seem to work ok. The only thing is the Thermo Overload will stop pump if it run from 3-5 minutes. I think it is because of the 5/8" outlet hose which is 120 feet long causing the pump to work harder.

Got product quickly and about $30 less than I could find anywhere else. Had it installed and working day after it arrived.
Amazon had the specific item I needed.

This was a replacement for a much older Jabsco 18590-1000 on an RV. The old unit had its bearing go out after an unknown number of years of service. (We bought the RV from a friend who said the unit had been installed by a previous owner. The RV is a classic GMC and is going up in value.)

The new unit was essentially a plug replacement for the old unit. And, it is a lot quieter than the old unit.

This pump will replace a sanicon pump for a macerator waste system. It would have cost 40% more if bought from Sanicon.

Used this for my sailboat toilet. I had the same version in the boat but after many years (owned the boat for 5 years, but my guess is the one currently in my boat is at least 10 years old) of use and abuse it was just 'pooped' out. I got the same model as a replacement and its flushing strong again. Works great!

The Jabsco Marine Run-Dry Heavy Duty Macerator Pump that we put in our 24ft. Bayliner Cabin boat has done great when we've use it... You have to use the RV toilet paper, and flush nothing but. BOTTOM LINE - you have to be conservative with TP, etc. when using marine and RV systems anyways, so if you're used to that, then this is a great pump. Also, chemical cleaners should not be used, as it could damage the seals and impeller of the pump. They recommend cleaning with Vinegar and water...

5.0 out of 5 stars You need a backup macerator., October 6, 2010

I currently have a pump like this but it was original equipment when I purchased my new 32' Marinette in 1990, 20 years old and the pump is slowing down. I purchased this unit as backup so that I'm not in deep do-do (pardon the pun) when my macerator/transfer pump finally fails. I probably could rebuild the existing pump but I think I got my money's worth. You can purchase cheaper units but I have found Jabsco does last and is worth the extra. I look to another 20 years.
