Product Description

The Jac Zagoory Beta Black An Axel Weinbrecht Inkless Pen. This is the full size version of the Inkless Pen and our top seller. Available in Cherry Wood (warm and light in the hand), Black/metal or Silver/metal (metal versions are smooth, cool and with a little heft) classic. I love the silver metal version at my desk but also carry the key chain version.

Great gift for artists, designers or doodlers. It allows them to sketch without needing to constantly sharpen the point. It is always ready, never dry, never dull. This Bauhaus inspired design will fast become your GO TO PEN in your pen cup when function must be guarateed in that moment of fleeting thoughts.

The pens be used on most paper surfaces, at any temperature or in any weather condition and will never need to be sharpened. There is no ink, so it will never dry up or leak. Doesn't smear.

While not quite artist quality, that's not the point of it anyway, it is a great little pen to sketch and draw with. The point isn't as fine as true metal point but it can be thinned up by sanding as suggested. All in all a solid product.

And for goodness sake, the lead is not significantly hazardous. It's not pure lead, and as long as you don't burn it with a blow torch and breath in the fumes (by the way... any metal would be bad in that case) you're probably OK. Metallic lead is very safe because it can't be readily absorbed by the body. And when it is alloyed it is even safer. Pewter is a ubiquitous lead alloy use in a lot of cheap cast metal trinkets (jewelry even).

Purchased one of these from VAT19.com. I am a writer who always wants to have a pen with me, having a tool that (1) never runs out of ink and (2) wouldn't explode in my pocket was very attractive.

Unfortunately, the reality doesn't match up to the marketing. It does work, but (1) is very hard to see even against white paper, (2) can be erased if a touch of moisture is applied, (3) horrible ergonomics, and (4) the friction of the pen is worse than any other pen or pencil I have ever used. More like writing with chalk or a rock on a driveway.

You can see a series of tests I did with it here: [...]

For most people, this is probably not worth the price. But your mileage may vary.

this pen is comfortable to hold, attractive, performs as advertised and is generally super cool. the pencil-like line it produces is very light however, and so cannot be used in everyday transactions like signatures or writing notes for others to read.

Marketing this as a pen is really a mistake because, if one is honest, it's really not.

It doesn't smear as easily as a lead pencil (in fact, it doesn't smear at all unless it comes in contact with moisture, as far as I can tell). In fact, except for the fact that it's not erasable it's one of the best pencils on the market.

If you're looking for something that writes like a pen, do not bother with this thing. But if you want a permanent pencil that won't run out, this may be your answer.

One other note: this pen will not leak in your pocket. However, it may puncture your pocket if the material is old or thin. Keep this in mind if you plan on carrying it around.

Pen is a misnomer. If you think of it as a metal pencil, you'll have a much better idea of what this product is like.

It writes best on surfaces with a little bit of tooth--think of the different between copy paper and photo paper. The closer the surface is to copy paper, the better your writing will show up. The mark it leaves is grey, very much like a pencil's in color and texture. (On smoother or glossier surfaces, the pen leaves a very unsatisfying groove, and hardly any mark at all).

The pen itself has a pleasing shape, and nice heft. It is heavier and has more 'drag' across the page than a pencil, so using it is a unique experience. I enjoy it, and I would recommend it to artists or writers who enjoy experimenting with supplies.

Don't waste your time. Sounds like a great idea but it doesn't perform. It writes like a pen out of ink.
