When ten-year-old Jason moves from New York to Los Angeles, he finds himself telling wildly exaggerated stories about being a junior photojournalist and investigative reporter.

Editorial Reviews

From School Library Journal

Grade 3-5-- Jason is a typical ten year old who has moved to Los Angeles and wants an image that will attract new friends. His days are spent planning to be a counterintelligence spy while he wanders around the public library with a camera and his five-year-old brother, Earl. When school starts, his fabrications attract the desired attention, but all soon backfires, and Jace the Ace ends up in a predictably awkward position. It's a didactic tale, and Jace's relationship with Earl is too perfect, but youngsters may identify with the protagonist, although he lacks the spark and realism of Barbara Parks' Skinnybones (Knopf, 1982) .
