Out of Touch with Reality,
By
This review is from: Jack Bauer for President: Terrorism and Politics in 24 (Smart Pop series) (Paperback)
The author is a bit out of touch with reality. He has little to no idea what is reality in the world. I think he may be living in lala land.....

A Collection of Essays on '24',
By Sunshine T (Valparaiso Indiana) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Jack Bauer for President: Terrorism and Politics in 24 (Smart Pop series) (Paperback)
NYT Author Richard Miniter has put together a variety of essays on the Jack Bauer prototype and '24' phenomenon that quickly gets into a discussion of ethics and torture. His choices of views go from the mildly left 'pro-torture' view of Defense Attorney/Professor Alan Dershowitz to civil rights activist Eric Greene. The primarily legal and psychological opinions sorely lack the balance of those who've ever BEEN tortured for real, or those who've extracted information or abided with those techniques in the past as first account speakers. Instead, we are presented opinion from academia (which is certainly biased and not always well-informed). Over all, though, if we are to discuss the popularity of the this television show in the post 9/11 world this book is a good discussion piece. The collection of critiques are illuminating to a degree.
