5.0 out of 5 stars Jack
The book was interactive, the CD was cute. It is a Christmas present so I don't know too much about it at this time.

2.0 out of 5 stars "Stupid" Jack
I was very disappointed when I started reading this book. I was not expecting a word "stupid" repeated in first couple of pages... I was not expecting a book from a city library with any "bad" words.

"Jack tried to find work, but everyone said he was too stupid"

..."shouted Jack's mother. "How stupid can you be?!""

The book...

The book is very easy to read for beginning readers, pictures are nice and colorful, and flip ups are simple enough that they won't tear easily... but I cannot recommend this book.

I also realized that many of the fairy tales I grew up with contain unwanted actions like stealing, killing, revenge, etc... No wonder I had hard time finding some of the stories because no one wants to read them to their kids. However, some great authors have modified the stories to fit today's society. I found the book "Kate and the Beanstalk" by Mary Pope Osborne (famous with Magic Tree House series) gives much better storyline and morals.

2.0 out of 5 stars Innapropriate words, November 1, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
It's a fine book except that they call Jack stupid a couple of times. I feel like it is a bit innapropriate for young kids

1.0 out of 5 stars poor art, inappropriate use of stupid, November 19, 2011
Got this at no charge with kindle prime membership. Agree with the other reviewers about the inappropriate use of stupid. Reads like it was translated from another language. At one point says a fairy meets jack at the top of the beanstalk, and my 3 year old asked, 'where is she?' Good question because she isn't drawn! Not sure if this is a kindle issue or what, but between the lame art, choppy read, and use of stupid, would recommend against this rendition of the tale.
