5.0 out of 5 stars It gets even better after repeated listenings
Being the hardcore Night Ranger fan that I am I've always looked forward to and suported all the individual projects that all the band members have had to offer over the years. Jack's long awaited solo release really does deliver, it's packed with very well written music from start to finish and is like a breath of fresh air. Highly recommended to all who apreciate great...

1.0 out of 5 stars It grows on you?? Get an antibiotic!!
The only thing tolerable about this album is the decent cover of "Nature's Way". Nice job Jack! This song is no reason to listen repeatedly to this album. The remainder of the cuts are college bar band material. Sorry Night Ranger fans, this does not stir the sleeping hair band giant in me.

5.0 out of 5 stars Well Rounded CD, June 4, 2004
This review is from: Jack Blades (Audio CD)
This CD shows the talent of Jack Blades in a nicely rounded compilation of his different styles. He includes some great bass playing, and some very diverse guitar and complex fills. As talented as he is at songwriting, most of these songs are simple and catchy, but still hold the complex arrangements that he's noted for. (If you'd like one of his great left-out songs on this cd- please buy the Japan version of the same cd to get it. Very worth the money itself.)
All in all, I absolutely recommend this cd to any Damn Yankees or Jack Blades fan.
He has guests on this cd, including his own son, Colin, and even his Damn Yankees mate, Tommy Shaw! But lots of others are included...like the rest of Night Ranger, Damon Johnson, and a few others.

Get it, because it is worth the listen, truly.

5.0 out of 5 stars Attention classic rock fans!, May 17, 2004

This review is from: Jack Blades (Audio CD)
Surprisingly, this is Jack Blades' (of Night Ranger and Damn Yankees fame) first solo effort. One would think that with his vast body of work, he'd have released one by now. Jack just continues to get better with age. While the sound on this CD is sometimes reminiscant of his former work, it ioncorporates a more contemporay sound, and the result is worth listening to. He's enlisted the help of several rock n roll commerades, not least of which is Tommy Shaw, who used Jack on his last solo album. The two together have an irrestistable sound. If you are a fan of Night Ranger, Styx, Damn Yankees, or generally any classic rock band, you will enjoy this. Give it a couple of listens through, and you'll hear how good it really is.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Real Jack, June 3, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Jack Blades (Audio CD)
I was very excited to see that Jack would finally released a solo CD. It shows that he's come into his own as not only a solo artist but also shows how well he collaborates with the other members of NR and the various special guests. You can very easily see early influences on this CD. It's not only a tribute to him but also to the other artist who helped mold him during his early years. The only thing better than this CD would be Jack's second solo CD. I highly recommend this CD.

5.0 out of 5 stars Not Night Ranger, June 27, 2004

Think somewhere between current main stream radio and generation x radio and that is where you will find Jack Blades. If you are looking for that Night Ranger ballad (or rock) sound, the closest you will get here is on track #7 with "Someday". Blades has evolved with time and his music shows progression as time moves forward. Blades is very talented and this musical work is long overdue. Jack Blades is perhaps the most talented unheard from artist in the business. It is nice to hear the work of Tommy Shaw on the CD also. The more you listen to this CD, the better it gets. If more CD's like this were released, modern radio would change. Until then, let's be happy Jack Blades has given us a little taste of something different and fresh! Maybe he won't wait so long until his second solo release, perhaps with a Night Ranger release in between!

5.0 out of 5 stars Outstanding work!, August 9, 2006
This review is from: Jack Blades (Audio CD)
It was time that such a talented artist had his own production. The combination of hard rock discharge as well as smooth well executed and arranged soft melodies makes this recording a well deserved update for Night Ranger and Damn Yankees followers as well. My favorites were "Alone tonight" and "Nature's Way" however the whole recording is a great listening experience for any soft or hard rocker.

4.0 out of 5 stars This CD Shines On and on!, July 28, 2005
This review is from: Jack Blades (Audio CD)
I'll admit that I bought this CD because I love Night Ranger and I didn't know what to expect with this CD. When I listened to it, I found that while there are some Night Ranger-like melodys, for the most part, it has a very distinct and separate sound. The more I've listened to it, the more I love it! Jack Blades is an extremely talented songwriter, and this truly showcases his different writing and singing styles and continues to prove what all Night Ranger fans know, and that's what an amazing talent he is. I'd buy it all over again!

4.0 out of 5 stars Good, February 14, 2005
This review is from: Jack Blades (Audio CD)
This is a good album that grows on you after at least 3 listens. It's not Night Ranger (or Damn Yankees), but still recommended for Night Ranger fans. This is a diverse collection of songs that sound up-to-date while still maintaining a classic rock vibe. Very worthwile to have this.

5.0 out of 5 stars Jack Blades is great solo, May 26, 2011

I agree that this CD just gets better the more you listen to it. The lyrics are complemented by great guitar and bass (and drums). It has a nice variety and shows how good of singer Jack Blades really is. I bought the MP3s for my iTouch and the CD for my old stereo which doesn't take iTune copies. I thought it was well worth the money!
